Smile LG VX8100 Car kit mode

My daugher's vx8100 got a little damp, and went into "car kit mode." I tried re-setting, removing the battery, and a hair dryer. Thanks to Ken's posting, I used an air blower in the data port, and that finally worked!

Talking Car Kit Problem - Thanks!!!!!!

GUYS.... I LOVE YOU ALL RIGHT NOW...
I followed ur advice on cleaning my cell phone port to get rid of the "CAR-KIT" problem, and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I actually found the same advice on another site, but didn't know where the port was, until a couple of u explained it on here...)
I just wiggled a pin in it, then blew into it...
and BAM! NO CAR-KIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nail file solution...

...I was just sorta glancing through, and saw something about sticking something metal in the charging port to bridge two of the connectors.... well that seemed to of worked... several times I did that and car kit mode would disapear from the screen...but when I would hit a button it would come back.... so the last time I got it off the screen,.. I shut the phone off, turned it back on ...and now it works.... I am sure if your phone actually got wet, you would obviously have to dry it,... but mine had not,.. I woke up...called my girl... went to work with it in my pocket, and the next time I went to use it, it said car kit mode.... too bad that I have already paid the $50 dollar deductable and have the new phone sitting here...ha ha

Smile Car Kit mode

I'm not sure which thing it was that worked, but I read the suggestion about the hair dryer, and I also read the suggestion on
http://forums.mobiledia.com/topic18548.html

about using a micro-screwdriver. I turned off the phone, took out the battery, and did both, first using the screwdriver to kind of scrape off any gunk, and then using the hairdryer. The phone seems to work properly still -- but that stupid car kit mode is off. Hooray!

you are all awesome

i just stumbled upon this whole car kit conversation by accident... by seaching with google... and i tried the blow dryer... DIDN'T WORK... for me at least... then i went to the extream and took the whole phone apart and took the blow dryer to it again... NO LUCK... then i cleaned it with a toothbrush... still wouldn't get off car kit... then i read about the file technique... and when i took a closer look at the power port thingy i seen that one of the little things were bent out of place(which makes total sense cuz when it went on car kit, i was talking on my phone and i had it on the charger)... once i got in there and straightened it out (using nail sissors, only thing i could find... i guess it's a girl thing)... it came off car kit and i haven't had a problem since... thanks again guys you saved me 50 bucks... thats how much i was gonna have to pay to get it fixed somewhere else

Dryer Didn't Work, But I Fixed it a different way.

My Phone also went into Car-Kit mode after my Baby Held it.
I had another problem: the internet didn't work, there was a message "Can't use internet while phone is plugged into a computer.

The Blow Dryer thing didn't help me, neither was the problem because the phone got wet, because I let it dry for 4 weeks.

I ended up fixing it the Car-Kit Problem, while playing around with the pins on the bottom with a Screw driver; if the Third pin from the right side touches metal it goes off Car-Kit mode. So I bent the pin out of place, so it touches the side metal casing.

This resolved only my Car-Kit Problem & not the Internet Problem.

Does any one have a solution for the internat problem.

Pm 225

Ok I have a LG PM 225. I'm having the same car-kit problem. I first noticed it after a rather sweaty day at work (the phone was in my pocket the whole day). I have tried the tooth brush, compressed air, hair dryer, and the screwdriver methods even though I'm not sure I did that last one right. It is still not working. Is there no hope? Is there anything else I can do?

P.S. I go through Sprint if that makes any difference
