How are some vendors able to sell the HTC Touch Diamond for only $400-$450? Are they legit?
Who knows. Without saying which ones do you mean i can't say, but from what i see on the net they can't be ;). The price of Touch Diamond is around ~$850 at the moment. So give em a check up before considering a buy. But in my opinion you are better of not to. This may just end up being just another big scam like the $600 poster of Xbox360 when it first came out :D.

WoW that is some hefty price tag, but i guess it is expected from something with that kind of features. just by looking it this way it is a bargain, but $850 is just a lot of money, when you can buy Nokia E90 for a lot less.

bullsh1t i found it for a good $150 less :D. the price stated is $699, which is still a lot for my liking, but it is a lot more manageable. BTW it really does look good, and from the review it sounds even better :D, Nice review guys.

yeah i would ask around to see if the vendor is for real. they may be offering you a great price but in the end, you're the one who's paying so you should be careful about it. I think $400 is an unbelievably low price. did they steal it or something? haha
even if it stolen it still too low of a price :D. I guess it may hit $600 in the next couple of months. Which will be a bit better price considering its features, but the soon to be released Samsung Omnia beats in every possible aspect. But that will be a lot more expensive than the Diamond.

It looks like the Diamond is coming to Sprint? I have Verizon, but am prob gonna switch to Spring due to the better plans for my money and better un-touched phones - none of that crap that Verizon pulls to take out all sorts of things from phones.
This Diamond looks great! And phonearena says it'll have an accelerometer - like the iPhone, right? That'll be neat to see.
Any idea on when it'll be on cdma for sprint?
Check the review :). It does have a accelerometer it is not just talk. The teeter game is a good way to accent on its features. It is basically a maze trough which you have to get a ball without hitting a hole. All this is done with tilting the phone.
here is a video of it in action: http://youtube.com/watch?v=CEy6qM93mjw

How can i get a relatively cheap dummy phone of the HTC diamond?

To bring the future of touch screen windows devices, my friends at HTC have mentioned to me, that in fact The Diamond the the Raph, both windows devices are slated for Verizon.
So if anyone here is thinking of switching there carrier just cause they think the one there on does not have it and another one does. Well you would be just wasting money, starting a new contract, new prorations and then buy the phone. I would just wait a little longer and see what your company provides or has to offer.
Just to say this out, Verizon is really showing off it's glow this year, there line up is the best out there, Sprint only has the Instinct and AT&T still just has the Iphone with 3g now, Verizon is showcasing a lot of new phones.

Well it is 449$ is its REAL price. The previously stated one was in the first two weeks of its release, it is normal to be overpriced. :D.

Yes, that's the HTC Victor which has been modified quite a bit from the original Diamond structure. They call it the Diamond nonetheless, but it's the version releasing for Sprint and the same version released over in Europe under XDA. It has an aluminum frame, not the original stainless steel, to start with... That right there contributes a bit to the cost being lowered. Either way, I can tell you right now, if you're on a forum or on eBay or something and there's someone offering an HTC Diamond with the original diamond backing in Euro spec... Look very hard at it if it's under $575-$600.

Already there, this is the lowest legit price I've seen I think.

Ugh, did you say what I think you said? The Omnia, in my humble opinion, is GARBAGE. Shouldn't even be considered with the Xperia X1, Diamond, Touch Pro etcetc. I've seen reviews and I'm not one bit impressed, let's make the screen back up and flip, maybe through our cleverly annoying animation they won't notice the device doesn't have enough power to flip it in a decent amount of time. That screen animation they have is only so you don't feel like it takes forever, buys the device some time to flip the screen. I haven't seen a device take that long since the 8525.
Also, if anyone plans on buying that Diamond, it doesn't have the new quad-band ROM, so you'd need to flash a new ROM onto the device to make it work on the 850mhz GSM band used in the states. I can give directions on how to do this, as well as supply files needed. PM for details.
If you guys see Diamonds being sold that are locked to a certain carrier, I have software available for a SIM unlock as well. Once again, PM.

This is what the Victor for Sprint will most likely look like for sprint except without the camera

Look at www.telusmobility.com and they have the Victor up for viewing... That's what's coming to Sprint, similar to what you posted.

They said that Verizons Diamond will have the stainless steel so does that mean Verizons version will look more like the GSM version than the Telsus version?

No, only the frame is stainless steel, not the case. Sprint cheaped out and went with an aluminum frame, but that allowed them to keep the accelerometer and 4GB storage, as well as the full RAM spec... It's all about balancing costs, no one in the US will spend $650 on an iPhone rival when the iPhone sells for $199.
(Euro version of Diamond is roughly $650)
