i'm looking for a device like this and the Glyde looks like something i would love to have. Does anyone know if there are any issues with this phone i should know about. Are there any cheaper alternatives that have the same features ?

Me too :) The qwerty looks very usable which is good new for me. I send a lot of text messages and the qwerty is a must. The screen is big and will be perfect for watching vids. IMO it is worth it ;)

i was wondering the same thing. They look exactly the same but the samsung has qwerty. Maybe the interface is a bit different, but i doubt it is that big of a difference.

I've been using it for a few days now, and my impressions are 90% positive :D. You just can't go wrong with this thing. The only downside i found is the lack of Wi-Fi so no hotspot chatting for me :/

p.s. i just saw that the guys at phonearena have made a review ;D you can check it if you have no fate in me

It depends on what you want from a phone to really judge it. If look for moderate functionality , touch based device and qwerty. This is the phone to have, but if you need more more more get a windows one. So your call, if you ask me it is worth it.

You are right the price is so pumped up at the moment for no apparent reason. It doesn't have that much features to justify it.

The only thing that I prefer on the Glyde rather than the voyager is that on the QWERTY keyboard the space is actually in the middle like a real keyboard (and I've had a few Blackberry's which are the same) rather than the Voyager which has a space key on either side at the bottom. THAT'S IT! The Glyde's touchscreen lacks in responsiveness. Honestly that's the only real issue I have with it and to me that's a big thing considering that's one of the main selling points is the full touchscreen. If you want something with touch and keyboard, go voyager. If you don't care about the keyboard wait for the LG DARE to come out and see how that is.

DO NOT GET THE GLYDE.

After reading all these remarks I decided to go get one as I thought it couldn't be that bad and I couldn't wait for the Dare as my current phone took a dive.

First, the touch screen is the worst I have ever had to deal with. Its unresponsive and you cant calibrate it.
Second, the battery life sucks as even fully charged my phone died half way through the day and I barely used it.
Third, the reception sucks! I got GREAT reception with my old EnV and now with the glyde it doesn't work any where my EnV did. I'm lucky if my calls don't get dropped half way through the conversation and I live in a major city (San Jose, CA) that has some of the best coverage.
Fourth, the FULL HTML browser is crap. Enough said about that.

I have no positive comments about this phone what so ever. I even hate the keyboard as it feels way too cramped compared to something like the EnV. My advice is to just wait for the Dare. Thank god the REP said i could return my phone within 30 days and get all my money back and put it towards the Dare if I wanted it. I hope this comment stops a few people before buying this phone.

Glyde is ****ing horrible. Had the phone for 2 days and returned it. Touch screen is horrible, shut off on me twice in the 2 days I had it [way more than my enV], cant do much w/ custom ringtones, doesnt get vztones delux n shit...keypad is horrible, nowhere near as good/convenient as the voyager/enV...only good thing about the phone is the look...thats it. Samsung has been dissappointing lately.

I agree for the most part. Samsung phones really need to be improved big time. The screen is not the best i've seen but it is quite usable, the keypad also works good for me (i guess i grew used to it). All in all a decent phone, but not that impressive.

Samsung hasn't been too bad lately, actually. The Flipshot is solid, Gleam is "ok" for what it is, and the SCH-u550, 540 & 410 are great for those looking for a basic phone. I simply think they just dropped the ball on the Glyde.

...Ok, the Juke is kind of a joke; so much that I almost forgot about it...

I am pretty sure when naming and marketing the Juke they meant to call it the "Joke" but just made a typo. In all serious though the Glyde has been a huge let down. If anyone can actually tolerate the phone's numerous flaws then it is almost guaranteed to break down in some way, shape or form.

I work for VZW and trust me, the Glyde gets returned 90% of the time due to the touch screen not responding. Dont waste your money on this POS.....get the Voyager if you want/need the keyboard but dont want to go to a PDA.
