It is going to be released for Verizon. I couldn't find any release info.
Here is some info.:
Release Date:
Q2 2005 <--- ?
Released for Verizon Wireless, the LG VX8100 incorporates all the breakthrough technologies of the VX8000 including high-speed EV-DO, megapixel camera, and video and music on-demand, but goes further with integrated Bluetooth capability for wireless connectivity, and a miniSD slot for external memory. MP3 audio player, dual speakers for stereo sound, and a 3D graphics engine make this a formidable handset in 2005
Also:
LG showed off its VX8100, successor to the VX8000 phone currently being sold by Verizon Wireless that works on the Code Division Multiple Access Evolution-Data Optimized network and has the ability to view on-demand video clips. The VX8100 phone has all the features of the VX8000 (including a 1.3-megapixel camera with a flash and a camcorder that can record up to 15 seconds of video) with the addition of Bluetooth connectivity and a mini-Secure Digital memory card slot for additional storage. Pricing and availability of the phones was not announced.

It looks so much cooler than the vx8000. And it has everything the vx8000 was missing.
I really want it. =)

After calling LG direct I was able to find out that it is supposed to be released this summer. But there was no exact date.

From what I see around the office it looks on or about last week of may to first week of july. They seem a little sour that the 8000 really didn't get time to shine and now the 8100 is right on it's heels. VZW would have rather had the time period that the 6000 had before the 6100 was released. Either way, I want one too, full price or not.

I'm just glad I found out about the 8100 before I was stuck with 8000 for two years. It has a better design and all the features the 8000 is missing. I'm glad I waited! (Even if it's released late, it's definitely worth the wait!)
Thanks for Your Info!

Hey Kids, Sorry about my date. I have 2 new dates that have been given to me from LG and Verizon. LG told me that Verizon was getting excited about the LG VX8100 and they were going to launch it mid July. I spoke with a Verizon Wireless spokeswoman and she had actually played with the phone. She said that it was the best phone Verizon has to offer when it releases. She told me that her supervisor said that the phone will be released end of summer so that the LG VX8000 has time to shine.
INFO ON MORE PHONES
Verizon is soon going to be launching several new VCAST phones. LG VX8100, LG VX9800, Samsung SCH-a950, Samsung SCH-a970, and Mot. E815.
Verizon has a new phone called the LG VX3300 that will launch as soon as the LG VX3200 runs out of stock. So if you like the 3200 you better buy one :D

I am not sure where everyone is getting "release dates" for the LG VX8100 as I've contacted both LG and Verizon and nobody knows anything OR.. they just can't say yet as they haven't sold enough of the 8000s. By the way, if you have an 8000, I know of several ways to crash it.. They certainly didn't test it out all that well.

Well I called LG today and the rep told me mid July, so let's hope he's right. I called Verizon last week and they knew nothing. I saw that the Motorola E815 was released today, so I figure there's a good chance the VX8100 will be coming soon, with competition and all. I like the E815 but I have always been a big fan of LG. Both phones have expandable memory, but the 8100 will have a lot more memory on board. Plus I just like the user-friendliness of LG more than Motorola. The E815 is pretty cheap though, $99.99 after the online discount.
Let's keep our fingers crossed! Just hope they don't screw us on the price.

I talked to a Verizon agent at a Circuit City today, July 6th, and he said it will be out Monday, July 11th. I have been talking to this guy about this phone for 4 months. He seems to know what he is talking about. He even said that they should get the phone on or about this Friday the 8th, but can't sell it till the 11th. Also, he said that he was told the price would be $199.99...plus a $50 mail in rebate. Of course this is with a new two year contract. With the "new every two" $100 rebate, looks like this phone will cost me about $50...way cool. :D

I just called Customer Service at Verizon, and they're taking advance orders on the 8100. Overnight first thing Monday AM, July 11, and guaranteed delivery anywhere the next day. Not bad for those of us in small markets, where the phone is not likely to be in local stores any time soon. The "new every 2" price, with rebate, is $49.00.

I am going to be signing up for a NEW contract, can I get the $100 discount? Also, is it confirmed that price of the 8100 will be $199?

I was just at the Verizon store near where I live here in San Diego.. and the assistant manager there told me July 17th as the release date. Perhaps this is for THIS store?.. I dunno. We practically know each other on first name basis since I've complained so much about the 8000.

I was told by a salesperson @ a Verizon store yesterday, Sunday July, 10th, that it was to come out today, July 11th. But, she said it would have to be ordered since they would not have it in stock. But today, I was told that it would be released this Thursday the 14th, and out for sale on Friday the 15th. Who knows if any of this is true? It was at a Circuit City store where I was told the 15th. OrionRSX said that Verizon said the 17th. But when the Motorola E815 came out, Circuit City had it for sale on Saturday when the Verizon stores did not have it until Tuesday. So, maybe the 8100 will be out on the 15th at Circuit City and the 17th every where else. Who knows what to believe? I won't beleve anything until I have ths phone in my hand.

Called *611 last Friday and ordered the 8100. Gal guaranteed that she'd put in the order first thing this AM (Monday, July 11), and sure enough, early this AM I got a text message from Verizon, reporting that my 8100 had been shipped overnight - to Montana! It'll be in my hands tomorrow.

Missoula,
Hope you got your phone...but when I called VZW's *611 all they would say is they 'had it in the system' and would not take an order yet. The only availability timeline they would say is somewhere within the next month and likely by the end of July. Perhaps you got in on a 'pre-order' allocation and they shut it down after a certain number.
Let us know if you received it so we can pester our VZW reps. I had to activate a new phone a week ago and glad I saw that this phone was going to be out rather than get stuck with a closeout for the next 2 years. The store manager I talked with said he might make an exception past the 15 day "Worry Free Guarantee" for a new 8100 in my case, but that remains to be seen yet.

I've never had an LG or a Motorola...
But now with these two that are out...I definitely know i want Verizon (currently tmobile) with Bluetooth.
I've been watching the vx8100 since NAB... but it's not the smallest cell out there.
So, I post my message here because you guys are the one's at the doors saying "open! open!".
So why LG vx8100????

Well guys it actually showed up. The lg vx 8100 seems a tad larger than my 6000 but buttons are also bigger which is nice. So far I have just been doing the usual changing over contacts etc... Like that you can set video clips as wallpaper so far so good. Still unable to figure out if it is a mp3 player, not that it really matters but would be another cool feature.. will keep ya posted. Oh I am in az and it was sent from cal.

Like alot of you, i've been waiting forever for this phone. Finally found out it was released on July 12th and can be ordered through Verizon's customer service. Called several Verizon stores today, one knew nothing about it, one said they might have it Friday, and finally one had it (Verizon store inside Circuit City).
My recommendation, call your nearest Verizon store within a Circuit City location and hopefully they have it.
First impressions, very nice phone - need to figure out how to connect it to sync my contacts with my computer - can probobably use a USB cable but would prefer to do it with bluetooth (is this disabled??).
Good luck, Matt

I am looking at purchasing a new phone from Verizon once all these new models are finally released, and the feature I am most interested in is an MP3 player. I know that the LG VX8100 has a lot more memory then the other phones, so that is why I am most interested in this model over others such as the motorola E815. With that the case, I have heard negative things about the MP3 player with the 8100, does it actually work. I have heard from about 3 people that it doesn't work. Why wouldn't it work? Let me know

Drew_in_MN - Got my phone in a Circuit City just outside of Boston. I think it's a matter of a week or so at this point if it still hasn't shown up in your area, hang in there.
PRKEEFER - So far the MP3 buttons on the front of the phone are useless, there isn't even a reference as to what they're for in the user manual. My guess is that if I get a miniSD card, load it with MP3's and pop it in the slot it will play them...but yet to be tested.

With the MP3 player not work, are their any other phones that anyone would suggest that has a quality MP3 player. I know the Motorola E815 has an MP3 player, but does anyone know if that works? I'm lost, if anyone has any suggestions on a good MP3 playing phone, with any service provider, please let me know.

However I cant get OBEX/object push to work! I want to transfer all my contacts from my PDA over via bluetooth but no joy so far. Just downloaded BitPim so Ill give that a try, but if anyone has a better way please post it here.

I haven't used but its out and people have bought it already, but I was wondering which phone is better the Motorola E815 or LG VX8100, they seem very similar, but I just want to pay extra for the VX8100 if the E815 can do the same exact thing.

I got one a couple days ago, it's great, I am trying to get a good deal on a MINI SD card, still the phone doesn't have any cables to connect like USB or anything to load music or pics to the mini sd or the memory. Anyone knows how this works or where can I get the cable to transfer files back and forth?
