V551 Battery Life

Is anyone having problems with the battery life on the V551? I am only getting 40 hours of standby time and less if I use the phone the slightest amount (less than 30 mins of talk time). My cingular sale rep replaced my phone last week. I did the 24 hour original charge, followed by 3 - 12 hour charges (after the phone went dead) as per Motorola FAQ and support person. According to my Cingular rep, I am the only person that he is aware of complaining about batter life. I am the only one? I would love to know.

I too have a v551 and the battery life is horrible. I am on my third battery from Cingular. Each one gives me less than 24 hours of standby and less than 30 min of talk time. Motorola needs to fix this problem as everyone is having the same problem.

It seems to be a battery issue. They are made in china. Most batteries are Japanese design which is much better according to an expert I consulted.

I think Cingular is clueless on how to handle it.

30m of talk time or 24h of stand-by is not normal. If you are with 4th battery and you still experience the same problems, I'll think about changing the phone, not the battery again. Ask the carrier if they have a rom upgrade available which will fix the short battery issue.

I just sent an e-mail to our Cingular rep about your replies. Our rep has been very resonsive to our needs. I will let you all know what I find out. Also, if I see anyone with the V551 I stop and ask them about battery life. All but one stated that batter life is poor

My Ceinglar rep is going to replace my phone for no additional charge. he feels my pain with the short Battery life. To bad, except for the battery life, the phone is great!

I have been using one of the v551's with the updated firmware, and the battery seems to be just fine. I am leaving the phone on for about 18 hours a day, and I am using it about an hour of talk time, and I am charging it only every other day.

Where are we able to download the upgraded firmware for the 551?

Here is a little help on how to properly use you Lithium Ion batteries. Most say to fully discharge before charging but this is 100% incorrect.

I received the phones from Cingular...I'm an agent so I just waited for Cingular to send them to me, but I imagine you can get it from motorola's website.

I'm used to my old Nokia charging from zero to full in under an hour. The v551 charges to 3/4 in 12 hours. What's with the v551?!

12 hours !? Try another charger (from a friend), and if it is the same - another battery. If there is still problem - change another V551 :eek: This couldn't be possible ! It must get 100% full in an hour or two!
