A640 a hopeless battle of phone to PC?

Well I have the Samsung A640 and I bought the cord for a ridiculous 31 bucks and now I come to find out there isn't a way for your PC to recognize it? I was wondering if there is a program or something I need to buy besides another phone lol motorola is starting to look a lot better with it's phonetool program...
