does anyone know if there is anyway that i can take things that i have recorded and set it to a ringtone??

Copy the recorded sound to your PC.
Convert it in the file format that your phone ringtones are (MP3, midi, etc)
Then copy the converted file back in your phone's memory.

This is only a suggestion. I am not sure whether this variant will work.
