Keep in mind that this won't get an entire email to the phone. I don't know why they don't expand the number of characters in an SMS message, but if your message is too long it will be cut off.

I had sprint service before and I was able to e-mail myself ringtones in the qcp format and so on. All you do is type the cell phone nuber for he username and the add @sprintpcs.com

The only thing about the username is if you are trying to send an e-mail to someone else you have to make sure you know their username because with sprint your cell number is the default username but you can change it to something else.

Eg. 7185576644@sprintpcs.com can change into an actual name if the person chooses to do so

Eg. Alexfriday@sprintpcs.com

Uggh. people guessing drives me nuts. its your vision username @sprintpcs.com or NAI which you can call in and change at any time. All you have to do is request it.

The <10-digit-no>@messaging.sprintpcs.com format worked for me. But unfortunately the no of chars is very less.

I have stated it before, read above. Log into your Sprint.com account, click E-Mail from the summary page and your email address for your phone will be there. its your Network Access Identifier.

Anyone having trouble with this; its VERY simple.
The person you are trying to send an email as a text MUST be using sprint on their mobile phone for this address to work. (see bottom if you are unsure of the provider)

Simply send an email to:" 5551237654@messaging.sprintpcs.com " where 5551237654 is the full number of the phone you want to text.

Then fill out the subject (optional) and body of the message. Keep in mind the max length for the message is 140 characters. If you need it longer you must split it up into several emails or it will be cut off after 140 char when you send it!

This is very convenient if you don't have a cell phone with unlimited texts; & in some cases data usage (sending pictures/ringtones/music to others is free to you this way) and can even be used as an alternative method to get files from your computer to a cell phone!

**If you don't know the mobile provider you are trying to text, use http://www.txt2day.com/lookup.php or http://fonefinder.net/ to find out for free;**

Here is a list of the most common providers in the USA and the address to email so they will receive it as a text AND BE ABLE TO REPLY!
I have personally tested the sprint and at&t ones today, both worked and both people were able to reply to my email as well; just by replying to the text!

Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
AT&T: phonenumber@txt.att.net
T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
Virgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.com
Verizon: phonenumber@vtext.com
Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com

*where phonenumber is their 10-digit mobile number*

Pretty sure most mobile carriers have different addresses for SMS and MMS messages. SMS is plain text and MMS can include pictures/audio/videos.

One way to do it is just upload the file to a free webhosting service, get the address for the file you uploaded, then text that to the phone and have them open the link...

Or if you transfer a lot of files just buy a cheap USB bluetooth thing for your comp (like $5-10 online) and bluetooth it over.. or mini SD and an adapter (most new computers you can put these right in!)

The point im trying 2 make: There are much more effecient ways to transfer files/pictures to a phone! Use this for plain text.

If you are just trying to send a picture from your computer it is possible if you get the MMS number for the carrier you are sending the message to; attach the picture to the message and if possible insert it into the body. I did this with at&t and it worked; but it is easier to upload it onto the internet and email/text the phone a link to the file.

As the latest models prove, today's cell phone is part TV and radio. Tomorrow's is part electronic wallet and homing device. Which will you prefer?

Surf the Web at Light Speed: Cell phones that roam the Web and send text messages have been around for years. What's new? Faster third-generation networks that let you surf .

Smile, You're on Candid Cell Phone: Your phone may be able to double as a spy camera, though usually not a very good one.
