I have a Cingular 8125 that I like a lot. My fiancee is interested in the same phone but wants to be able to use the future UMTS and higher speed data and as well will be tethering that to a laptop. It seems that this is the perfect solution.
Are there any other phones she should look at instead? She doens't need a full PocketPC and maybe a Smartphone, but it's important to her to be able to sync tasks, calendar, and contacts with her PC. As well, what is pricing expected to be if it comes out for Cingular?

if he's gonna be tethering to a laptop it might be simpler to get a UMTS aircard for the laptop... less hassle... same cost

I am quite excited about the F700...it is a new samsung pda/iphone device...not sure what it has in store...there is quite a few new phones coming out this year, most are going to be 3G capable...I would focus on all 3G phones with WiFi capability...with both of these on a pda phone...you really can't go wrong...

Any HTC device is good...the "cingular" phones

The new HP looks relatively decent.

Smartphones are more my preference...with the F700, VOX, and a few other ones.

hopes this helps at least a little :)

buy the cingular 8525 with UMTS add the 19.99 media net package to your plan and do the ROM update that way it has internet sharing on it meaning that you plug it into the pc hit connect and as soon as the phone reads connected you'll be able to connect to internet explorer without any problems, no extra work is needed. you don't have to install drivers or set up a dun connect or use a special software all you have to do is check connect easy as 1...2...3. and as far as the 19.99 package it works the same as the 39.99 PDA package they try and sell you, only difference is price.
