I was just wondering if anyone had any info on the vx9900. I thought FCC was supposed to release documents sometime soon and I have also heard a release date of 9/4? Anyone know anything, the chocolate phone is coming out sooner than expected so maybe this one will too....

i spoke to my LG rep a couple of days ago, and he said it owuld be out before the end of the year, however, he did not specify exactly when. I also asked him if it was going to have full PDA functionality. He said that it would not beacause LG does not want to go that route yet.

I heard release of the LG VX9900 for this upcoming Black Friday..

Yeah we're all speculating Black Friday, guaranteed b4 Christmas, but the 22nd would make the most sense bc we hate how crowded the stores get Black Friday. With the 9900 being in such hi demand (almost a year b4 launch even), if we can get everyone buying it in and out of the store on the 22nd, come Black Friday people will have a better buying experience cause they won't be waiting so long. I myself am dying for the phone... My 9800 is awesome as it is... But I'm a little nervous with the original S/W glitch.... At least I can count on LG to make a quality product, bc they're pretty good about catching S/W glitches in phones b4 the general public gets their hands on them. Wish Motorola had done that with the RAZR...

To the VZW reps and employees on here: do you know what the pricing will be yet? For 1 year or 2 year contracts? Also, is this version preloaded or capable of running AIM?

I work at verizon, we just got a bunch in the other day. they are launchin nov 27 with the following prices: $320 full retail, $200 1 year contract, $150 2 year contract (thats after a $50 rebate). Its def. an awesome phone, I will be purchasing one for my self, it is a lot slimmer then the 9800 and the hinge flips open the opposite way, the buttons are a little bigger and more spread apart, both on the front and on the outside, (which is good for people with large thumbs/fingers like me lol) The only thing I do not like about it is the front of it, I think its a little ugly and LG could have done a little better with it...besides that, get to your local VZW store on the 27th!!!
Happy Thanksgiving To All!

Question for anyone who has this phone already!!!! Is it true it will only play MP3's and WMA's from verizon's music site as stated by one of the previous posters? That was the main reason I waited for this one over the 9800. I wanted to be able to play both, since i Have so many on my computer. I am not paying verizon for more. If it doesn't can you somehow convert your music with their music package?? Thanks!!!

To answer the [know-it-all]: Actually the phone IS out. And if those people work for Verizon or Lg then they may already have it. Also alot of the Indirect agents already have some and are selling them before the official launch date.
About the Phone: Its awesome!!!! I think it dose only play Mp3's or WMA'S and the WMA'S Have been proven to sound better. You can look threw the net and see if you can d/l a music converter. Or you can try going to the actual music file and switching the file to wma. Just depends on what you want to do, and how your files are!
Also, by a memery card, it will be easier for you to put music on the phone and you'll have more memory.

wait, i'm confused
so this phone only plays music that has been approved
by verizon? What? and when i checked on the verizonwireless
website, one of the accesories for this phone is the "music essential" kit
why would you need the USB if you have the micro SD?

If you put a picture or photo into the microSD card,
can you use it as a background photo for the phone?

Yes, if you put a picture on your memory card you can use it for a background or even a caller id picture.

I bought the vx 9800 when it first came out and have loved it tremendously. I have had a few problems, but I have to say it is a great phone. It took some time to get use to the size but not too long. At one point the phone was pretty warped and they traded me out for a Razor AGHHHHHH. I fought tooth and nail to get my 9800 back. Just today I was called and told that I was a winner of a new phone from a new store that opened. I went in and they told me I could pick any phone that I wanted. As tempting as it was to get a PDA phone I opted for the 9900, and let me tell you LG is awesome. This phone is the 9800 and then add a Habenero pepper to the mix and some Irish whiskey and you have one awesome phone. I still have the 9800 and I added a line just to be able to keep it. So I guess I have the best of both worlds. I would buy one for all my family if i could afford one. The price is always the thing that get you.

to enable non-verizon approved mp3 files on the vx9800 open the menu (open phone and push "ok") then push "0" enter in 000000 as the service code, and at the bottom of the menu you can open up the music settings, and change it to mp3. I have yet to figure out how to set the vx9800 to mp3

For that you need to go to the settings and tools, Sound Settings, Service Alerts, ERI. Make sure ERI is off and you wont hear "Verizon Wireless" again.
