Someone told me that you can send text messages to a Cricket phone from your email and get responses. I have a friend that has Cricket and I wonder if anyone knows how to set it up so I can email/text to his phone.

its not certain phones that can do it. You need to have mms multimedia messaging. By default cricket users that just have text messaging do not get a email addy. The txt msgs are routed by crickets network... With mms you get the email addy that you have seen so much here:
yournumber@mms.mycricket.com <--------the mms stands multimedia msging!

I receive and send pictures which is MMS messaging and I just sent to our phone and there is no message being received. So that is not the case. I think maybe it works with most phones, however, I have a SLVr Motorola and top of the line cricket service. So who knows!

THIS IS TOOO FUNNY. LMAO !! PEOPLE NEED TO QUIT HATIN. SOME PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD THE OTHER PHONE COMPANIES. OR THERE CREDIT IS MESSED UP. SOOO CRICKET ALLOWS FOR THOSE PEOPLE TO STILL HAVE A CELLPHONE EVEN THOUGH!!!! JUST LIKE THOSE THAT CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A CAR FROM THE REGULAR DEALER SHIPS THEY HAVE TO FIND A WAY AROUND A SITUATION TO GET WHAT THEY NEED OR WANT. QUIT HATIN CUZ YOU PROBABLY HAVE A CRICKET AND YOU ON HERE FRONTIN.

Yes it does work just do the following
phonenumber@mms.mycricket.com
remember to put 1 at the beginning of your full number
so if your number is 725-526-5261 you will do the following to get it to work
17255265261@mms.mycricket.com
this number is fake but I was giving you an example, but thats how you must do that to send and receive emails on your cricket phone.

Yes the recieving (phonenumber)@mms.cricket.com works perfect. If you attempted this and it did not work for you, make sure the person you are sending to positively has cricket wireless as their carrier. If they once had cricket and did not inform you of a switch of service provider but kept their same number, then it is possible it will not work properly. Good luck!

To all the people having issues with Cricket. Leave them. Thier service is crap, thier phones are ALL flashed from other carriers. Like thier Treo offer. it was a sprint phone originally and flashed to cricket. thats why web wouldn't work. Just like your phone. If it was from any other carrier and flashed over to cricket, MMS and Web will NOT work period because thier flash-over is just a generic one that doesn't support every phone. Get used to it.

To anyone this may apply to...i have a cricket phone and was doing ok with it for a little while and then all of a sudden, i stopped RECEIVING texts from most of my contacts. They get mine fine, but even when they hit "reply" and send me one in return, i usually don't get it. I finally got around to talking to a service rep about it, and he informed me that it's because i ported my number from sprint, instead of getting a cricket number. Anyone that has AT&T or Cingular, you won't receive texts from unless you have a number that originated with cricket. I'll be getting a new number soon, cuz it's been driving me crazy, but just thought i'd let you guys know. Maybe that's what's happening with some of you!

Cricket is forcing customers to move to one of "thier" numbers however all thier numbers are originally owned by sprint or ported-in from other companies. Do not change your number. You ported it in for a reason so your friends can keep in touch. Cricket is giving you a BS answer and you shouldn't take it. Tell them to fix it or else.

There is one big mistake in this forum, to send a text to a cricket phone you need to send it to phonenumber@SMS.cricket.com not phonenumber@MMS.cricket.com notice the MMS needs to be SMS. hopefully this fixes some of the problems. it fixed mine

I've tried all variations suggested here... with 1, w/o a 1, to .net, to .com, each of those combined, and have gotten nothing. I called cricket tech support and they say they do not support emailing to phones. I'll check again to see if anyone offers any new advice, as I'm finding it hard to believe so many people are full of shit (though maybe I shouldn't). I don't see any reason why it would depend on what city you're in, other than maybe here where it's a different band than the rest of cricket around the us.

The easiest way would be for you to send your friend an email from your phone. You do this the same way you text, but instead of putting their cell # in, you put their email address. Then they can just reply to that email you send

okay people here you go:
to text from any email address to cricket phone:
10 digit phone number @sms.mycricket.com
to picture (i.e. multimedia message) from any email address to cricket phone:
10 digit phone number @mms.mycricket.com
10 digit phone number being area code and number all together
to reply back to email from phone must enter email address as contact and send message, cannot reply back to message received. I have been using this all over the country and it works fine.
