SD card size for Lg Vx 8100 / 9800?

I have a vx8100 and my wife 9800. I’m wondering if we can use bigger SD cards with them than the 512 mb with vx8100 and the gig with 9800 as I’ve recently heard. Has anyone used any bigger with these phones? Thanks for the info!

I personally have 1GB on my 9800, but I’ve read that people actually use 2GB with it. As for the vx8100 they sell 1GB cards for it so probably it’s not true that the max for vx8100 is 512MB.

umm i got the phone the V for verizon and bought a 2gb sd scandisk right and im haveing formating probs with it but i think its a LEMON probly have to send it back sux i was so happy whne i saw it orderd it online only place u can get them!!

dude, I actually use a 2g sandisk with my 8100. you can get it for 60-70 of ebay and it really makes the deal. i guess your card is lemon as you've said, and you won't have problem when you change it for a new.

This is true -- the VX9800 is currently firmware limited so as not to be able to address memory space above 1 gig.

You claim its not -- how so? Got something to back it up with? Other than the usual, I heard that someone wrote that somebody saw on the web where some guy had talked about his buddy who knew someone who saw where somebody had put a 2 gig card in a 9800.......

With the 9800 you don't have to buy the Verizon Software, but you need to buy a card reader, then you can click and drag the MP3 onto the card. With the 8100 if you got it before they upgraded the phone to do V-Cast Music then no, you don't have to buy the software. But if you got the phone after they added V-Cast Music, then you have to buy the new software package, and download Windows Media Player 10. Because with the new 8100 software it disables the MP3, and substitutes it for WMA foremat. Basically so they could sell one more thing to you and make more money. I personally have the Samsung 950 with the new software so i can do V-Cast Music, and yes i went out and bought the Package so i could put the music on my phone, it comes with a USB cable, the c.d for the driver, and a cool pair of ear phones. Any questions?

Not true -- with the software upgrade on the 8100 it disables MP3 support but from the hidden service menu MP3 support can easily be re-enabled. Same will apply when the software upgrades are issued for the 9800.

now option 8 on the GET IT NOW>GET TUNES & TONES menu is "My MP3s"

VX9800 recommends 1GB and the VX8100 recommends a 512.
If you use a bigger card you might damage the system. It won't damage it right away but in 1 year it s not going to work nomore. Just a warning!!

What are the advantages and disadvantages while using the 7-zero menu setting? What exactly does it do? Will it make your phone inoperable in this case? I know that possibly neither Verizon Wireless nor the 9800 manual specifies or talk about this, but... I was just wondering. Thanks. (I hate to say this, but... is this also legal to do that?)

I am using the Cingular 8125 Pocket PC which has a Mini SD memory card slot. As Cesar2828 said that bigger card ( 2gb) can damage the phone in the longer run

Cesar2828 is totally clueless.
Using a bigger card will not damage you phone in any way -- at worst the phone simply won't recognize the card but it won't do any damage to either.
Don't know where these idiots come up with this silly bullcrap.
