T-mo insurance on eBay phone

I have $5.99/mos insurance on my account, but I want to buy a phone from eBay (still haven’t decided which one), so I need to know if my insurance will cover it if I put my SIM card in it, no matter what the phone is? I just don’t want to pay insurance, knowing that it won’t cover my phone.

Normally the insurance covers the phone your sim card is in. But if it isn’t a phone bought from t-mo or not sponsored by t-mo than the insurers will replace it with a t-mo phone which they decide is closest to yours in terms of design and features. It also depends on which tier level of insurance you are (A, B or C) and if you are in A tier level, you can be sure that they won’t replace a very expensive phone.
