1x icon on V710

I’ve been with Alltel for a couple of months now and so far I’m quite satisfied with reception and service. But the 1X icon haven’t appeared on my V710 so far. When I went to the store last month to pay my bill I noticed that most of the phones displayed there had this icon. The salesman explained me that if power cycle my phone a few times it will lock onto a 1X tower. I did as told, but nothing happened. Since then I keep asking myself if there’s something wrong with my phone or if I’m in 1x area? Can anyone tell me?

You won’t see 1x icon on Alltel V710, although everywhere in NC there’s 1x coverage. The phone distinguishes only between digital and analog, and although you’ll get 1x, your phone won’t show it.
