I was wondering if it was free to txt if someone is "IN" and is texting another person that is "IN"

IN or not based on : http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/LNPControllerServlet?path=lnppromo1

Does it matter if they have a texting plan or is it just free to txt all members within the verizon network?

Thanks!

Are you on the IN plan ? If you are, you would be able to send unlimited to IN members

yes I'm in the "in" plan but I heard you have to pay an extra 5$/month to send free texts to verizon users. is this true?

As far as I know, your IN plan is $5 per month. So once you've activated it (you pay it) you can se it and message unlimited ...;)

as far as i can tell, just check his number on this (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/LNPControllerServlet?path=lnppromo1) and if it says he's IN then texting/calling shouldn't be a problem.

The In-Messaging should not be confused in In-Calling. If you do not have a messaging feature that includes In-Messaging you will be billed for text messaging to other VZW customers.

As of the original date of the above posts that mention the $5 text plan, they were correct. When IN-texting first came out there was a $5 feature that allowed unlimited IN texting with 50 additional messages for outside the network. Yes, now it starts at $10 for the 500 additional messages. Also, if you plan on using more than 1500 messages outside the network, don't bother upgrading to the $20 package, just change to a Select plan and get unlimited to anyone.

Verizon has several txt msging plans.
first is a $5dollar package which includes 250 txt in and out. the 10 dollar is 500 in and out but unlimited to verizon. there is also a 15 and 20 dollar package. after that they have unlimited text msging in and out to anyone anywhere in the US for individuals its 20 and family plans(up to five lines) its 30. hope that helps:cool:

Well there have been a lot of good posts on this thread but I still detect some confusion so I will sum it all up in my post. Verizon Wireless, like most other wireless companies provides its customers options when it comes to products and services, one of which being messaging services, such as text and pix. The (current) pricing options that a VZW customer has the choices of are:

1) Block text messaging - no charge or ability to send messages (obviously, no free VZW to VZW texting)
2)Text messaging on a per-message rate. This bills at $0.20 per text/IM and $0.25 per pix/flix. This does not give unlimited VZW to VZW messaging for free, they will be billed at the per-message rate.
3)A $5 messaging package. This gives 250 of text/pix/flix or IM to anyone on any carrier. If the 250 allowance is exceeded, messages are billed at $0.10 per text/IM and $0.25 per pix/flix. This does not give unlimited VZW to VZW messaging for free, the messages would either deduct from the 250 allowance or be billed as overage.
4)A $10 messaging package. This plan DOES give unlimited VZW to VZW messaging plus an additional 500 messages intended for other carriers.
5)A $15 messaging package. This plan DOES give unlimited VZW to VZW messaging plus an additional 1500 messages intended for other carriers.
6)A $20 messaging package. This plan DOES give unlimited VZW to VZW messaging plus an additional 5000 messages intended for other carriers.
7) Select and Premium plans that both include UNLIMITED messaging to anyone on any carrier. These plans would obviously provide unlimited VZW to VZW messaging. These plans bill $20/month for individuals and $30/month for family plans for the messaging portion.

So the answer the original poster's question would depend on which of these options they have their account set up with. If they have a messaging block, pay-per-use messaging, or the $5 package, then they will not get unlimited VZW to VZW messaging for free. If they have the $10, $15, or $20 packages or the Select or Premium plans, then they would get unlimited IN Messaging. Hope this clears things up.

Some good info but seriously folks. Don't post without all the details of their account. What is their current plan and what features do they have? What's their text usage? Have the person go to vzw.com (register) and view their last 3 months of usage if they don't know.

Take it to the next level and make sure this customer is happy and walk away with no overages.

Now these things have been partially covered already, I'm just reiterating and adding my thoughts.

so does that mean verizon to verizon txting is free? i dun get it someone help me out)x i really need help

Verizon to Verizon texting is not free, unless you have the proper text package.
If you don't have any package at all, you're paying $0.20 per sent/recieved message and $0.25 per sent/recieved pix/flix.

There are old $5 packages that include 50 messages and inlimited IN(vzw to vzw).
However, they don't offere that package anymore, so here are your choices.

$5 for 250 TXT/PIX/FLIX to anyone on any network(doesn't include unlimited IN)
$10 for 500 TXT/PIX/FLIX and unlimited IN (vzw to vzw)
$15 for 1500 TXT/PIX/FLIX and unlimited IN (vzw to vzw)
$20 for 5000 TXT/PIX/FLIX and unlimited IN (vzw to vzw)

If you're on a single line, there's not point in paying the $20 for 5000,
just switch to the complete unlimited texting(the Select plan)

And then if you have a family share plan, please realize that these plans
DO NOT share text packages unless you are on the unlimited family share text package(called the Select plans)
Which is a flat $30 for the family share and will cover up to 5 lines with unlimited texting.

if u have the unlimted in texting, does that also apply to unlimted pic/vid messages as well?

If you have the appropriate package, then the unlimited IN covers txt, pix and flix.

Oh and don't get me started on international texting costs.

You Have To Have A Plan With Txt To Get It For Free Not Just In

If you pay $5 then you get 250 messages, no IN texting. If you pay $10 you get 500 out of network with unlimited IN messaging and so on. You should check with customer service to ask what text plan you have

You get you pay for.

Other carriers don't offer in-network texting for free without a package either.

There is a version wireless commercial that is recently being aired. (Note the date and recently). I don't know what specifically is being advertised but the commercial is being aired this week and today I saw it again. What is the song that is played in this commercial..?

If you have a select, connect, or premium plan, then you will have unlimited txt, pix, and flix to any cell phone on any network.
I personally have the connect plan and love knowing that I can text all I want and not care about how many messages I am using.

verizon to verizon texting is only 'FREE' if you have a 10$ or above texting plan. b/c $10 and above plans have unlimited IN texting with additional # of messages to other carriers. (and if you have the plan, it is UNLIMITED msg/pic/vid texting to verizon customers ONLY) if you do NOT have a texting plan then you will get CHARGED for text/receiving the messages. So technically its not 'free' cause you would have to pay for it to get the unlimited IN texting feature.
