Hi Everyone, Just signed on to the forum yesterday. Wish I had found it a few days ago. Trying to get correct information from Verizon Wireless is like pulling impacted teeth!
Anyway, I've been using a Samsung A530 tethered to my Laptop to check my email while we are RVing. Slow as molasses, but acceptable. Access to the internet only cost on a minute used basis.
I've been hearing horror stories about how Verizon is changing things to get more jingle in their pockets, and that's OK! Business is business.
I've probably written too much before asking the question, I guess, but does anyone know if the VX8100 will access the internet in the same manner I mentioned. I was told by Tech Support that about any phone couild use the
1RXTT format.
I understand that the Mobile Office Kit for the VX6100 is compatible with the VX8100 and that most of the "recoginition software" is rather generic, although some comes with the Kit.
Verizon didn't have any of the kits, but they can be had all over the net and for a lot less money. I've seen info on here about their availibility.
Anyway, has anyone connected to the net via the cable using the 1RXTT technology.
If I was misadvised I'm gonna take both of the VX8100s back and cancel my 2-year extension.
Over the past week or so, I must have spoken with half-dozen folks from the store salesperson to customer service to technical support to data tech support to managers. Got that many different answers (smile). The sales person seemed to know more than anyone else, although one of the data tech reps told me "what I wanted to hear". Just hope he was correct.
Thanks for any advice or info. Looking forward to reading more about this great phone!
Regards,
Jim in the NM Desert
