My enV Touch cannot last half a day with minimal use, and cannot last a day with no use (standby). This is with overnight charging every night. I take it off the charger at 7am, by noon the battery is down to about half, and by 3pm the battery is dead. I've done two hard resets already, but still with the same problem. I thought this phone has a 17 day standby duration, but maybe I have a bum battery. Verizon is sending a replacement battery, so hopefully this solves it.

anyone else have this issue with their LG enV Touch?

I just got my Touch last night and already I'm having a similar experience. I fully charged it before I went through the activation. After exploring with it a little bit, it was down a bar to 3 bars. I charged it overnight last night...back up to 4 bars. I've made/rec'd a couple calls today. Sent a couple text messages and it's back down to 3 bars already (at 2:15 pm). This phone is an upgrade from a RAZR which had a less than full day battery life, and which annoyed me a lot. I thought this was going to be better. But it's looking like it's going to be WORSE.

I'll be interested to know if the replacement battery is the answer.

How did you get them to send you a new battery? Is this something they are doing for just you or sending to all touch holders? Thanks!

If you are having a problem with the battery the best thing to do is get the extended battery because it isn't that big but you barley lose 2 bars in a day the other option if u don't want a bulky back is get another small battery and carry it around with u when your other one dies the best idea would be to get the extended is 50 but if u type is the online code bat30 on verizonwireless.com its only 35.

I just got my enV touch a few days ago and had the same problems the first day or two

I read somewhere that if you completely charge your battery from dead to full using your computer a few times it helps you "break in" your battery. I was skeptical but open for trying anything in order to help because I really like the phone.

it actually worked. I went from 4-5 hours of battery life to well over a day on the same amount of use

i do NOT have the data plan so i don't browse the internet (something you might want to take into account), but I DO heavily text and listen to music. I noticed that mobile IM really kills the battery.

I really hated the fact that everyone was saying "limit the use of this, and try not to use your phone as much in order to save battery". I mean who buys a phone to limit themselves?! Id be interested to hear if this works for others too!! =]

Just got my touch yesterday at noon. Plugged it in at 12:30, was done charging at 2:30. Browsed internet probably for close to an hour and a half, sent 25 text, received 25 text, talked about 10 mins. Lasted until 8:00, plugged it in and it was done charging by 10:30.

I went ahead and bought the extended battery last night also. I plugged it in at 10:30 and it was done charging when i woke up at 1:30 and i unplugged it. it's 9:30 now and i have been browsing a lil and i have texted about 10 times, still 4 bars.

before buying the phone i read the battery wasnt too great, but my battery hasnt died on me yet. i let it die when i first got it (with that 1 bar they give you when you first get it) and im constantly on youtube and the internet and playing movies. i just dont use the music, i dont know if that makes a difference.

Mobile IM uses the internet for connection however that paticular data usage can be tracked by the company and not billed as "Casual data usage fees" and comes with the plan. Thats why your battery drains quickly when using this feature.

the best thing to do for any new battery (even lipoly) is to charge it full from the factory, let it drain till the phone shuts off and then charge it full again. usually, this is the technique for NiCad or NiMih batteries, but sometimes lipoly and lion batts can become confused or in multi celled batteries, unbalanced and need a restart by using this technique.

use a comp if you can.

BTW, i dont have any battery problems with my enV touch.

what do you mean by using a computer to drain the battery?
or do you mean charge it on a computer after it has died?

i got mine charged it for a good 11 hours and it died overnight with some use... i beleive a big factor is your service verizon in my area in cleveland is really bad all the sudden and i drop every call i have im not searching for service but i just simply have no bars so that may be the reason... i went to cedarpoint with the voyager that has a crappy battery too and it lasted 3 times more than it normaly did which i beleive is because i had 4 EV and 4 1x bars i dont understand why they cant just give u a battery that lasts for texters when after all the phone is meant for heavy texters what happened to phones that lasted like 3 days

Well a lot of people have been talking about the battery life on this phone, and i just have to say with my experience so far it has been great. I charged it till it was full then took it out (if you overcharge it it uses the battery life up) at 8:00am. I used it as much as the next texter (Web, videos, music, etc) does and it lasted till 3. 7hrs isn't that bad for all the features it has. Of course it will vary depending on how much you use the phone but it wasn't that bad.

You drained the battery by charging it for 11hrs you only charge it until it says charge complete after that the battery will drain. my phone lasted 7hrs on a full charge it has nothing to with the battery in this situation.

Doods.
Your destroying your batteries!! Don't charge them for 11 freaking hours!! That's terrible!

Once the charge is complete on your phone any extra charge with destroy memory cells that hold charge. It's no wonder your phone battery sucks and it's your fault. Never charge your phone over night or even over a few hours.

Take your battery out of your phone. Put the flat part on a desk or something similiar.((the part with the white tag that faces your phone)) Spin it like a top. If it stops right away, you could be fine, but if it spins at all, your battery is trash.

Game over...

My representative told me that it takes 3-4 Full charges from dead to full to reach its capabilities. That could be your problem.

or it could be that you all have unreasonable expectations of the phone, its one of the most media heavy devices you can get for vzdub with dual screens and a touch screen, what did you expect it to be like a vx5200?

no i don't have this prob, and i charge it when it is off, so it gets a deeper charge and it lasts longer....you should try that

modern phones have the feature where it stops charging after the battery is full. it does NOT drain battery life, nor kill the battery by charging it over night.

Check with Verizon - LG released a software update in June to correct the enV Touch issues of battery draining and system freezing. Your software should end in 04 that is the latest version.

Try turning ur evdo off that might help conserve the battery seeing as some of you keep it on standby sometimes,

What would dual screens have to do with anything? They're not both on at once so no difference than a single screen phone. Same with "all the multimedia features" - if you're just texting / talking on the phone it should last just as long as any other phone doing the same things.

My old little candy-bar Nokia phone that I got years ago lasted more than a week between charges.

All batteries come dry, you have to let them charge ALL THE WAY, then let them die ALL THE WAY for a week or two, your battery life will double at least over time. If you don't they get worse and zero out. I don't know why providers don't tell people that. The stock 950mA battery is good for a full 16 hour day with bluetooth enabled. Should get a day or two out of the extended 1500mA.

Also, bottoming out your backlight settings and turning your volume down a tick helps a lot.

Lastly, for the love of sweet baby jesus, if you're not using Bluetooth, SHUT IT OFF!

The tech guy at my Verizon store also said to turn off the phone ALWAYS before charging the battery. It seems to make a difference. My battery life was terrible before I started doing this, but is much better if I turn the phone off before charging. But sometimes, after "Charge complete", and I turn the phone back on, it shows a dead battery. So it does help to turn off the phone before charging, but overall, I think the env touch just has a substandard battery.

From what i remember when i had my first couple of phones many years back, you have to let your battery die out completely and then charge it up.

Unregistered

ok I dont have the Env Touch , but I still have the original Env. If the person at the store if you go to the store or order it online, and if they do not TELL you to let your battery go dead then charge it while it is off, there stupid... You MUST let your phone go dead right when you get it, and when it does go dead, make sure it is off, and then start charging it, and do that many times for longer battery life.

The first day I had mine a played around a lot and it died pretty fast but I let it go totally dead then I fully charged it overnight and it has been working fine. It has 4 bars and its been off of the charger for 7 hours and I have made calls and sent texts with it as well.

Substandard? look at the accessories, if you buy a new one, its the exact same thing and its compatible with a bunch of phones besides the enV touch so obviously its no worse than the other phones its compatible with

How long does it take you guys to charge your battery fully?
I got my env touch a week ago and it's already randomly reset a couple times and the battery isn't as bad as some of yours but it doesn't last a full day since I use it so much

I turn my phone off at night when I charge it. Mainly because I hate the fact that the screen stays illuminated.

After a day of use my phone usually only drops one battery bar; two if I was heavily using the phone. That is making mostly short calls and texting throughout the day.

Last night I didn't charge it and here it is 12:30 and it still has 3 battery bars. When I went to bed the other night, I put it on airplane mode, so as to turn off the radios in the phone. Before I got rid of my laptop I would get such a longer battery life when I turned off the wireless. Same principal with the phone.

Im having the same problem. I sent and received 4 texts and watch my battery drop 2 bars within 10 minutes. The thing that confused me the most is that I have had 3 env touches and they kept the same battery everytime. The confusing thing is with the same battery, they would last completely differently. 1 I had, i swear could last all week on 1 charge, the one i have now with the same battery, doesnt last 6 hours!
