Backlight - Touch Diamond

Hey everyone - help needed please!

I have a new HTC Touch Diamond (http://www.mypocketpcmobile.com/FullReviewHTCTouchDiamond/tabid/247/Default.aspx) and about three seconds after I pick up a phone call the backlight to the keypad goes off.
This is a real pain as I often have to select further keypad options to read voicemail / navigate call centre menus etc.

How do I go about adjusting the backlight timeout to prevent this from happening? I can't see any settings for this.

Do you like this phone? I really don't think i do. The battery charge is awful (the main reason for that is because whenever I get a text or a missed call or something the backlight stays on util I manually turn it off...ugh!) , it is very slow, and does yours ever just randomly turn itself off? Mine does!
