Zoom not available if using the best quality picture mode, try reducing the quality and zoom will be allowed. Use the side keys to zoom in and out.

Don't tell me this phone by Samsung has the same Increasing Ringtone issues as the Eternity and the Propel? I got rid of my Eternity because of this issue.
Does anyone else have this problem with the Impression? I was considering giving Samsung one last chance with this phone but apparently they have not corrected this software issue.

Does anyone else have the problem when getting a text message, the text tone does not stop playing even when you've read the text...only way to get it to stop is to turn off the phone. Or sometimes not sending text even when you have many bars, but when you shut it off and try it again it works?

ive had the same problem with my impression. the phone feels the need to randomly lose signal in a place where all my other phones had been fine with getting signal or it feels the need to just not send txts with a signal. restarting the phone is the only thing that fixes it. another stupid malfunction and software problem that irritates the hell out of me

I have to turn my phone off and back on sometimes to send a text, too. I don't know if you've noticed but whenever it does that you cannot delete them either or at least I can't...

i have had the same problems with texting, also the alarm on my phone often makes no sound when going off even when set to. turning the phone off and on fixes it but it is very annoying. My font size for my received texts randomly got very small one day. Not impressed with the impression

my impression randomly stared doing this today:
1. it rings/ vibrates like i should be getting a text and this little message symbol thingy at the top of the screen goes away but nothing happens. no text, no message, no call, NOTHING!
2. a few minutes pass
3. a text just magically appears on the screen and the message icon appears at the top of the screen again
4. this happens every time i get a text now
this is really annoying so if someone knows whats wrong please tell me

My phone has a "ghost" text message too. It doesn't fix itself when I turn off the phone or when I clear the phone message history and message memory. I can't figure out what's wrong with it :(
Overall I like the phone though. Turning the phone off and on doesn't really bother me since the start up sequence actually goes pretty fast, but the ghost message pisses me off...

I got the Samsung Impression around two months ago. It also has the texting problem where you have to turn off the phone and turn it back on just to send it.
Also, i woke up one morning about a week ago to find the display all back. The phone was still on, it made noises, the full key board lit up when i slid it open, and it vibrated when i touched the screen. I have no idea why it did this. It worked perfect when i went to bed. I'm not a happy camper. Has anyone else's done this?

I have an Impression, my second one because of the text issue. This one does it as well. However, some of the problems you are havin can be corrected by just knowing why your phone is doing what it is doing. First, the message thing at the top and then it vibrates like you got a text and nothing. What that means is your message memory is full and it had to delete a message. That is why after a few minutes you get another text. It has to delete one to get one. Also, that is why yours is doing it all the time now. If you go in and delete your messages it will not do this again until SMS memory is full again. The font getting smaller magically one day is just you hit a button. The volume up and down on the side controls the size of the font. So if it is too small, hit the up arrow on the side. If it is too large, hit the down arrow. Still, the fact that it gets stuck on "Sending" and times out is annoying. You have to restart the phone like everyone is saying or go in and change the messages from your SIM card to your phone because the Impression lets you save up to 30 messages on the SIM. Most of the time I just restart my phone then have to wait a minute for it to "Initialize" not impressed with the impression. I still have my old Palm Treo 750 and I'm thinking about digging it out, haha.

I've had the same problem with randomly deciding not to send text messages.. turning the phone off and on works like evry1 has been expressing. Also why does the ringtone sometimes not stop playing even after u hit the end button and open the test message. how annoying!!! Another problem, I'm on my second impression and the 1st..the screen went completely white but then went back to normal. so with the 2nd one i have, ive experienced the problem with the texting and ringer, but this time when the ringer would not stop, my screen went completly white, ive turned the phone on and off...the at&t logo appears and im allowed to type in the password for my phone but the main screen is completely white.
Samsung should really be discredited for malfunctions like these.

Hi, I have an AT&T Samsung Impression and I've had ALL of those problems. Eventually they lead my phone to turn off during calls, texts, et cetera. The screen would turn black and the screen would go to six different panels of green and pink. It got so bad I couldn't close the keyboard. Just bring it to the carrier store with paperwork and they'll replace it. Just remember to send everything to a friend, computer, or a SIM card. My second Impression is having similar problems. I have only dropped it once or twice in the three or four months I have had this one. The warranty still covers it, and I'm bringing it into there. Just let AT&T cover it. Don't think this problem will go away- IT WON'T! It only gets worse and worse. After all of the problems this phone has, I LOVE IT! It's extremely organized and is great with texting. I'm not trading it in for a different model. It's the best phone I've seen a long time. All of my friends agree- even though these problems are a pain in my bootwa ( BOO tchwa), the phone's worth it.

what is the "no event" widget mean? i had a blackjack before this phone and im used to all my appointments showing up as a reminder a day ahead, and i thought this was what this widget did...but so far no luck getting it to do anything. Also, i hate the lock buttons location and the lock pictures. Today was the first text issue, my gf finally recieved two text messages i sent her at 9 am and noon today....she recieved them at 5 pm? is this a service problem or the phone? also some of the wigets are unable to be removed from the widget bar, and the touch screen is a little "fidgetty" (spelling?) Im thinking of trading this phone in for something else...any recommendations?

This happened to mine too. I don't think there's anything I can do either, because I bought it at RadioShack rather than AT&T. I'm going to try contacting the manufacturer I think.

Follow up: RadioShack wouldn't do anything, but AT&T shipped me a new one because it was covered under warranty. Luckily for me, the one they're shipping me is apparently not just the same model, but a reconditioned one at that. I can't explain how excited I am to be getting a used copy of a phone that just failed completely on me after a month and a half.

it's just notifying you that your inbox is full and you need to delete some texts (should start getting it around 400-440 messages). it's dumb that there's no way to turn the vibrating notification off if you have your phone set on auto-deleting the messages like i have since it's obviously auto deleting the messages for you therefore you don't need to know that your inbox is almost full.

I have the same problem with the messages not sending as well--i'm an 18 year old girl, i text a lot. it happens to me at least once a day and is extremely annoying because i have to turn it off and back on and the message initializing thing takes a long time to load up. oh did i mention i've only own this thing like 5 days?
so i went to exchange it today for another samsung impression hoping it was a defective phone rather than all of the samsung impressions sucking but i've had this phone for 5 hours and it's done it again. i think it's definitely a problem with the all the samsung impressions. i'm gonna go return it tomorrow. extremely dissatisfied.

Ok so my first Impression would get stupid about every other day. When you scroll thru lists like the contacts list it wouldn't bounce back at the top and bottom leaving a big white space. The menu would take forever to show up and the icons would pause about half way in, then I wouldn't be able to select any of them. I also couldn't send texts, I ended up with tons of messages in my outbox that didn't send (and I didn't have too many text messages in there because I regurlarly delete them). The only way I could get the problems to go away was to take the battery and sim card out then put them back in. Like I said I had to do this about every other day, any longer than that and I got all excited.
I got another one from the warranty people and I'm having new issues. The picture editor doesn't work like the other one did, it is all wonky. The browser doesn't work very well and won't let me select things now and then. I also have to hit things several times before I can select them sometimes. This is very frusterating since I only started using this phone about 6 hours ago.
I can't switch phones since I'm not up for upgrade and can't afford the retail price on a new phone. Other than the problems that I and many other people have dealt with I love the phone, I really hope they can get a software update soon!!!

The same problem just happened to me. Saturday night i went to answer a call bc it was ringing, and noticed the screen wasnt lit. So i messed around, noticed that the keys lit up, and the screen would vibrate, but not light up. Makes it very tough to use the phone when a touch screen u need to see wont light up. Dialing is almost impossible, finding contacts is even worse. I tried turning it off, taking the batter out, nothing. When it loads, a little light pops up but then goes away. Im calling at&t today...did you figure anything out?

I have had my samsung impression for about a month and i think the ghost texts you are talking about is the same thing my phone does. I find that when my inbox gets full it is set to delete one message making room for another. It only does this though when it is 100% full. My phone will vibrate or ring like a have a text but really it will just be deleting the oldest text in my inbox. I know it gets annoying but i really do like it because sometimes when i'm at school i don't have time to delete my inbox. The problem i am having with my new phone is that i accidently dropped it once and now the phone doesn't recognize when my keyboard is slid out. I am going to take it back and get a new one but i think even though the phone has some problems it is totally worth it. My dad has so many more problems with his iphone so i'm happy with my situation. Plus the color and graphics are so vivid and amazing compared to any other phone.

i have had the impression for a couple months as well and this is actually my second one. i got my first replaced within the first week b/c it stopped vibrating what so ever.
anyway, i also i have the problem with having to restart my phone to get it to send texts. also i have a severe problem with delayed text messages. sometimes i wont get them for about 15 or 20 minutes.
and has anyone had a problem with it randomly turning itself off, even while charging? then when i try to turn it on, it wont come on till like the 7th attempt. one time i turned it back on and i had a blue screen come up with a red dashed frame around it, it said something about a boot up vs. 5 needed or something. it was really weird. the only way i got the phone back to relative normalcy was to take out both the battery AND the sim card. it kept the problem screen without a battery.

So I've had my impression since June 2009 and I didn't really have any problems at all. However I just grabbed my phone to charge it and the screen is black. There is a small strip of black paper this is showing when I slide my phone. I've tried taking out the battery, and turning it on and off to no avail. It worked 2 hrs ago and now this. I purchased this phone on ebay but I have the original box. Is there anything that can be done??

So on 10-17-09 the screen on my impression went black. I looked on the AT&T website that Monday morning to see if there was anything I could do. I called the warranty number and found out that my phone was still under warranty and that as long as it wasn't physical or water damage they'd replace it for free! They could mail it to you but if they find that is was physical or water damage they'd charge your CC $210..yikes!! So I opted to go to a warranty service center and they replaced my phone (w/ a refurbished one) with in 30 mins!! Unfortunately..All this and I didn't have insurance..I hope that this info helps some people out there. Our phones haven't even be out a year so you might be able to get a free replacement too....(my Pastor's twitter not mine http://twitter.com/edyoung his blog http://www.edyoungblog.com/)

i was texting one of my friends when the screen randomly showed a battery flashing and a little loading bar. Is that a problem if not what does it mean. It had been on the charger while i was texting and before i was texting.
Thee Samsung Impression is a piece of shit. Throw it away.

I have had the same texting problems as mentioned here. I complained and they sent me another phone. This phone does the same thing! It is so annoying and doesn't always allow me to text after turning it off and back on again! Another HUGE flaw with the Impression is the fact that when the time changes in the Fall and Spring, all calander entries go back an hour or forward an hour! I called and asked how to fix this and was told I had to manually change every time I had in my calendar because that was an overlooked problem by Samsung! I can not wait until I can get rid of this phone!
