is the LG UX840 like the LG Prada? thats kinda what it sounds like. i cant find the 840 anywhere online. also, will the LG UX840 be a smartphone? cause if it is, that means we will have to buy internet data plan which is like $25/month.

No the LG 840 will not be "smartphone" but it will require a premium internet package that runs 19.95/mo but the benefits way outwheigh the cost!!! I have the Samsung Delve now and I love love love the browser and full html options and I dont have to pay out the yang like with competitors!!

It is not like the 830, thank god! It has a full keypad that flips out as well as a touch screen. It is about the same size as the htc touch pro. It will have apps you can purchase off the data package but not sure what the Iphone is like.

Is there a web site or something I can go on to see the LG ux840. I don't if I should stay with U.S. Cellular or not. If it's not like all that I'll just switch over to AT&T to get the new iPhone.

The lg ux840 is worth the wait. I am not allowed to really share any info about it. I can say that it is really cool and that's the coolest phone u.s. cellular has ever had.

So far this is the only corner of the internet talking about a LG UX840 phone coming to US Cellular. Which leads me to believe you're bullshitting or that US Cellular is getting the LG Xenon and changing the name. In which case you could of just said so. I highly doubt that its a completely new phone. Phones are shown 2-3 months before release date these days and US Cellular being the 5th largest phone company in the US have a slim chance of gaining an exclusive with LG, and also to add IF (and this is a big IF) they got an exclusive phone their marketing people should know to advertise and brag about it since this would be the first exclusive phone I know of for US Cellular.

It is similar to the lg xenon buy the lg ux 840 is a little better, I think. The ux840 also has a better camera. They're both about the same but they look different, the menus are the same, different body styles. I went to like a show case of phones from lg. I forget what the name was for the ux840 .

Phonedog.com also mentions the lg ux840. And 3 others that are coming out by summer. It seems like all the "great" phones have to have the premium internet service. What a bummer.

Unregistered
05-14-2009, 11:57 AM
Yes the LG Tritan will require the $19.95 package.

The phone is awesome and it is worth the wait. One of the nicest phones in the upcoming US Cellular line up.

I Think its the Xenon because they did the same thing with the lg glimmer. It was the same phone alltel had it just had had a diffrent name called the LG UX830.

Unregistered
05-22-2009, 02:07 PM
Hey the Lg xenon has a 2-Megapixel camera and the Lg ux840 has a 3-Megapixel camera. Clearly they are not the same. Alltel is not supposed to get this phone till after U.S.Cellular gets it, sometime in July will be when alltel will get it.

so the lg triton will require the mobile internet i know. i have the 24.95 unlimited text, pix, video and internet. is that the internet that the phone will require? or is it a different package

Unregistered
05-25-2009, 05:22 PM
You'll still have to pay for the Internet package. Which is 19.95 but you can still send pictures and videos over the Internet. If I was you I would drop the other bill but keep the texting.

Unregistered
05-26-2009, 12:59 AM
k so how much is it gonna cost total for the internet package and texting? the way my agent made it seem is that i have the package that it will require. which is the new 24.95 internet, unlt pix, text, and video messaging. so will i have to have the 19 dollar internet package, plus the 15 unlt texting?

The phone is not coming out in June.. The person I talked to through a friend that is with the CORPORATE side of US CELLULAR stated the date that was set in mid JUNE is pushed back and they didnt elaborate further.. I think they might be waiting for the 3G internet service to start which is in July.. It has passed the test they ran in Chicago.. All I know is that this D@MN phone need to hurry up cuz im tired of WAITING !!! Im sure the rest of the US CELLULAR network feels the same D@MN way !!!

Lg ux 840 is scheduled for June 8 launch date it has been in testing. USCC tests their phones more than Verizon or AT&T do because of the size of the company. AT&T can afford to put a phone on the market that isn't the most reliable phone because they can make up the money in other areas. USCC has always wanted to put the customer first so why sell a phone that they can't stand behind. Mobile internet will cost 19.95/mth and depending on plan text could cost 4.95 to 29.95. The phone will be similiar to the Xenon with modifications that USCC felt needed to be added/changed. USCC can't sell the same phone as Verizon or AT&T just like Toyota and Lexus change names of vehicles even though they are so similiar.

does anyone know how much the phones price is????

Unregistered
05-27-2009, 01:49 PM
yea 20 for the internet and 15 for the unlimited texting which will still save you 120 over the 2-year contract. but ask first cause you could get it 5 lower than 19.95. And if you remember to send in a copy of your receipts and your bar code you'll get 50 dollars back.

i'm so confused on the whole mobile internet/texting situation. i just signed up for the "new" 24.95 unlimited text, pix, video messaging, plus mobile internet and e-mail package. all those in one plan for 24.95. my agent said that the way it sounded for the lg ux840 that is the package is the one i would need anyways. right now i have a razor 2, and i have the novarra mobile internet, that is the full html browser. and i have a thing that has mobile e-mail. so to my understanding, i won't have to get anything different when i get the phone, right? or can somebody please correct me if i am not understanding this correct. if you go to this link, http://www.uscellular.com/unlimited it is the second package down, please someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Unregistered
05-28-2009, 02:31 PM
You need the premium mobile internet for 19.95 and the unlimited text, pic, video is 19.95 so you will have to change your plan. The phone is suppose to be 149.95.

Everyone keeps saying that it is June 8th, but when I spoke to my in at USCC Corp, they said thats not the case. However, he told me that there is a CONFIRMED EXCLUSIVE phone for USCC coming, and it will resemble the LG Xenon called the LG Triton just like everyone has been talking about.

I work for U.S. Cellular. All I know about the Triton release date is that we should be getting them between now and the end of June. My D.M. said they may even come in our phone order this week. I can't wait. I've read all of the specs. and it's going to be a kick #ss phone! They keep moving the release date because our company runs more tests on all of phones than most companies do. We just recalled one of our newer phones because less than 1% of them had reported software issues. I sware to you that this phone is worth the wait. It's one of the coolest phones that U.S. Cellular has ever carried. Don't be upset about the $19.95 data package. If you have a phone like the 840 why would you not want the data?

This phone looks amazing, but I think I like the appearance of the Xenon more, just because the whole screen slides back on that one.
I would really prefer a phone that flips and has a keyboard.
I have the Samsung Gloss right now, and I absolutely HATE it. It's probably the cheapest and crappiest phone I've ever had. I get a new phone almost everytime us cellular comes out with a new one, so I will give you my opinion.

Motorola Hint- the keyboard is really weird, the buttons are awkward, and its too small.
Samsung Delve- touch screen broke after 2 weeks. It froze a lot, and I didnt like the texting on it.
Samsung Gloss- HORRIBLE
Lg Glimmer- I liked it, but I wish you could do more things with the touch screen.
Lg Rumor- hated it, end of story.
HTC Touch Pro- I had it for about a month, and decided that it was too high tech. It's a great phone for someone that needs all the internet access. It was just too complicated for me. I'm seventeen, and all I need is calling and texting.
Motorola Razr 2- LOVED it, probably one of the most reliable phones I've ever had.
Motorola Rocker- didnt like it what so ever, it was too skinny and hard to text on.
Lime Green Moto Q- This was my favorite phone from US Cellular, I like when they offer different colors. Internet was wonderful, and texting was amazing.
Lg Rhythm- I thought it was a nice phone but the screen was way too small.

Like I said, I've tried almost every US Cellular phone possible, and I think the Triton will top all of them. I live in Oregon, and everytime I call US Cellular, they give me a different release date, so I'm hoping it will be soon. I just bought the Samsung Gloss, not knowing that this LG Triton was coming out (LG is my absolute FAVORITE when it comes to cellphones) I bought this phone two weeks ago, so I have two more weeks to exchange it for the Triton, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it comes out soon.

I work for a US Cellular Agent store. We got the dummy version of the Triton last week. Im an HTC Touch user right now and Im thinking of switching to this new LG phone. Its a little big, but I like the keyboard and little joystik nub. Hope I can play pac-man with it. Just waiting to hear from corperate as to when we can order it. some time soon.

you pretty cool to have to go a few weeks with the Samsung Gloss i would kill myself. when i went up there to look at it and i said one word to myself 'CHEAP'. i`m 17 and from west virginia. i've had the razr 2,the glimmer, the delve, and now i have the htc touch pro, within two years. i`m going to get the triton when it comes out.

Unregistered
06-10-2009, 03:48 PM
yeah, i have the stupid gloss.
i knew it was cheap, but i sold my htc touch, and this was the only phone that was cheap enough for me to afford at the time.

and then i found out the triton is coming out.
which i called my us cellular agent today, and they said it will be out june 19th. I'm hoping it doesnt get pushed back again.

I just spoke with my US Cellular rep and he said I could order or go to the store Monday the 15th for the UX840. With so many dates being tossed around I hope he is right. I am not in contract right now and the only thing keeping me there is this phenom the triton. I love the service but the selction of phones to this point has been horse @#%$! Once they get there phone assortment address sufficiently I think US Cellular is one of the best companies over all.

I think that for every state, the release date could be different.
because not all of us are from the same state, and we're all getting different dates told to us.

the us cellular i talked to looked it up on the computer and said it will be here on the 19th.
i hope it doesnt get pushed back again.
i have to exchange my phone by the 24th

I went into my local U.S. Cellular today, asking if they were going to carry the new blackberry curve. Anyway, he said they got some new phones in this morning, and he brought them out. One was a Blackerry Pearl, but in a flip phone form. The other was a LG Triton. I messed with the Triton for a good few minutes. It looked like a UX830 but with a slide out qwerty keyboard. It had an accelerometer thing like the iPhone. It had a pretty good touch screen, a good feeling keyboard. I liked everything except the 3d launcher on it when it slid open was a bit weak. I couldn't preview the internet as it had not been activated yet. I'll have to wait until it comes out to make a final decision.

I called us cellular today, to see what the pricing would be.
and he told me it was 149.95 with a 2 year contract.
he also told me that they got the triton in today, so i went there to go get one, and he said he made a mistake, it was just a display phone.

they looked it up saying its shipping there on the 15th, but it will be everywhere by the 19th.
so i was very angry that i went all the way there to exchange my phone, and ended up getting a crappy loaner phone anyways.

just thought i'd let you know.
it should be there by the 19th.
maybe earlier, but definitely by the 19th.

I went to Us cellular in oregon yesterday
i got to mess with the display phone, and it was AMAZING.
the touch screen is so responsive.
the only negative thing is the keyboard.
its like the keyboard from the lg rumor.
i wish i would be like the keyboard from the xenon.

anyways, someone asked about the pricing.
i dont know if its different in every state, but in oregon its
129.99 for a 2 year contract.
and a 50 dollar mail in rebate.

its supposed to be out this friday, and i cant wait any longer!

how is the internet on the phone?

The internet is amazingly fast thanks to the new 3g network launched around here just bout a month ago. The keyboard is what you can expect for a QWERTY keyboard, its small if you have big fingers obviously. i personally have no problem with it compared to the other posts on here. It does feature a virtual qwerty which absolutely sucks since the letters are tiny lol
as far as setting songs as ringtones, im not quite sure yet..my memory card doesnt work with my phone for some reason so i cant experiment. you can however record your own ringtones which is a nice feature :)
any other questions feel free to ask away

Did you get it at US Cellular? And i saw you guys said 129.99 with 2 year contract. Is the 129.99 price after the mail in rebate or before? Also, did you have to ask for the phone or did they already have it out? Sorry for so many questions ! lol :) Its just that i really want this phone but theres no info anywhere on the net.

LOL its okay :) yes i got it @ USCC in waterloo. I had called and UPS had just gotten to the store and dropped them off and the sales manager was taken in the inventory as I got there and had to wait a little bit to get it. I personally had to specifically ask for that phone, they DID NOT have a model of for the public yet. They might now (this was bout 8 hours ago now) and If you don't have a outstanding balance with USCC you will pay 129.99 plus a $50 MIR paid as a visa gift card. if you do have a outstanding balance you will pay 149.99 plus a $50 MIR. and believe me, I REALLY wanted this phone also and OMG it is WORTH IT!!!

thanks so much!

its going to be amazing to use the internet.
i hope today goes by fast.

Does anyone know how much the Tritan will cost with the 2 year contract at Us Cellular?

Unregistered
06-19-2009, 04:04 PM
Yes, it's available. I just came from the US Cellular store. It's $149.00 with a $50.00 rebate for 2 years and you have to have the $19.95 premium mobile internet. The slide out keyboard seem like it would slip without much pressure - does anyone know if that's just the way all the slide out keyboards are?

For current USCC customers it is $129.95 with a $50.00 rebate.

I check USCC's website and they are offering the trition for my area in wisconsin. Not sure when they started offering them. I have the HTC 6800, it is great for me because I am a IT guy and need all of its feature. My wife is looking for a less tech like phone so I am thinking the trition will work great. Maybe I will even end up with one. I used to be a USCC Store Manager, which makes me concerned the easyedge is on the phone. Death to easyedge. In conclusion the trition looks promising.

i just got back from picking up my triton!
its amazing!

i love the on screen keyboard, and the mouse thing does NOT get in the way at all.
the internet is fantastic.
and the touch screen is so responsive.

the only thing i DO not like, is the fact that you cant change the color of menus and what not.
its a ugly brownish yellow color, and its not very attractive

other than that, im in love with it.

DEFINITELY WORTH IT.

The Tritan's keyboard that I tried at a USCC store seemed loose to me and it was a day after it came out so I'm pretty curious about it not staying tightly closed too.

Also would really like to hear some thoughts about the Tritan from those that have already bought it. Thanks.

I have had this phone for a couple days and love it. It was $129 then came with the $50 rebate and I got a 10% loyalty discount from the store I go to.
I switched from a blackberry pearl and dont miss my crackberry at all. The internet viewing is so much better. The onscreen keypad is awesome. I'm thrilled not having a tracball. Over a year I went thru 5 of them. The navigation is great. It actually speaks to you instead of trying to read the screen and drive at the same time. And it actually locates me at home. My bb couldn't. I'm in a small Iowa town out in the country, but the tritan can pin point my house.

I have downloaded a few songs from the tone room app. Anyone know of websites where you can download free songs to your phone?

Try
http://www.myxer.com/
It isn't like those other websites where you have to sign up for a monthly subscription or even pay for the ringtones individually, its completly free. Just search for your ringtone. Its like the limewire of ringtones lol but even better. It sends the mp3 ringtone file directly to your phone. Ive been using it for months now and its great!

i dont think its possible, but if you know how, let me know.
because its the only thing i dislike about the tritan

I got the Tritan a couple days ago but had to exchange it because it was a lemon! It kept freezing in the lock position and I had to keep pulling the battery out. Also, when I went to my text message inbox, I couldn't even finish reading the message before the phone started shuffling through the messages on it's own ( I swear I touched nothing!) Now the new one is good so far but I'm having trouble transfering music onto the phone. Ive tried on two different computers and I bought an extended memory card- still nothing! Can anybody suggest a solution? Or, has anyone had similar problems? I really hope it's not a design flaw, because I love the phone.

06-28-2009, 03:17 AM
there is a couple solutions.

i always go to "open folder to view files"
and i drag my music over, and it works.
other than that, you can get a card reader from walmart for like 8 dollars, and put your card in it, and it works.

i use both.
hope that helps.
theres nothing wrong with the phone though.
everyone i've talked to, loves it.
as do i.

got my Lg Tritan a couple of days ago and I love it, had an HTC and it gave me nothing but problems and replaced 2x since the first of the year. it has the same type keyboard as the HTC and I didnt have any trouble with it coming loose. I do have Telenav it came with the phone and it is gps capable. I really like this phone and its features most bang for the buck. I dont know if it is just a special but Altell has it for 199.00 with a 100.00 rebate cost is then 99.00 and only a 1 year contract

Hello. So my cell phone plan is up and I was looking at the new LG Triton. This phone is exactly what I am looking for but I don't want to pay the $20 internet fee per month. Does anyone know if there is a way I can get this phone without paying the $20 internet fee?

No, you have to get the 20 dollar internet. Its a requirement. Theres no way around it.

I wish that us cellular would have more txting phones that didn't suck. The only ones they have available are the Samsung and Moto Hint, both the phones have poor designs. They got rid of the lg Banter, which I was going to get but not it's too late. By beef with HINT and Samsung gloss are mainly with the buttons (hard to txt). I love the Tritain and similar phones, but they require internet plans. Does anyone know if there are Txting phones coming up that DON'T require internet mobile service plans with the phone?

Trying to find out if any of the newer phones deal with audiobooks well. Many of the mp3 files are long, ie 45min and scrolling through is tedious, if you even took note of where you left off! On the Tritan, is there any bookmarking or does the player remember the last location at all?? Thx

Unregistered
07-14-2009, 12:57 AM
No, there is no way of tricking US Cellular. The internet plan for the Tritan is required. As for the audiobook, bookmark feature, there isn't one.

I bought 2 of these LG's today in Nashua, NH. Brought them home, got them fully charged, and have already had issues with both of them shutting themselves off randomly. We previously had the LG rumor and that was one of the major issues we had with those phones. One of them also had the freezing issue. I have always loved LG phones but, the rumor sucked, I was constantly in the store on "tech day" with them, and, if this continues, these will be going back before the 30 day period is up. My two teenage daughters have been dying for this phone and are already complaining and it's only day one!

I have the Tritan 840, have had it 3 weeks. I must admit it is a very nice phone. It doesnt feel cheap or feel like its going to fall apart in my hands. I hate paying the extra 19.99 a month for the package but now that I have it I wouldnt trade it for the world. Love the wii games loaded to the phone, the screen is readable and easy to maneuver. There was very little learning curve. This is about as close as we will get to an Iphone from US Cellular so Im quite pleased. The camera has auto focus and really takes decent pictures. Other than the fact that USC is forcing us to buy a premium package I think this is a good deal. Ofcourse...if you didn't buy the package, the phone would be nothing but a phone. You couldnt use half of it's applications. Thumbs up!

just picked up my tritan 2 days ago.. I also hated the fact that my bill would go up 20 bucks.. but after finding out that there were no extra charges for the navigation application I was appeased.. surprised that those who purchase the more expensive 29.99 internet and text plan have to ontop of that pay to use navigation subscription.

my only issue now is keeping it scratch free while I try and find a case and screen cover.

I'm trying to decide whether to get a Tritan or a Blackberry. I'm never used either. Other than the Blackberry plan being $5 more per month, what would be the advantage of the Blackberry over the Tritan? I like that the Tritan has a "touch screen". I have played around on the IPhone, but I've had USCC for years and don't want to change.

For any upper U.S. Cellular Representative or CEO

I think that since they have the whole list of touch devices from HTC an haven’t had any problems out of them so i think that they should go ahead an push the HTC TOUCH PRO 2 to the TOP of the list and RELEASE it SOONER than later; Cause i have this feeling that if they do they will gain alot of customers an really an truly thats what they wanna do, but they have been trying to do it with there plans, so we have the cheapest service an the best plans but we have the whack phones so everyone else settles for VERIZON or SPRINT. So I say to U.S.Cellular release the HTC TOUCH PRO 2 cause the only way you can go wrong is by NOT RELEASING IT!!!!

I have to say, I am not willing to give up with USC yet. Their plans are by far the best around and so is their service. As for their phone selections...something to be desired.

Word has it they will be offering the HTC touch pro 2, and two Motorola phones in the next couple of months. A motorola android and something called the crush. Correct me if i'm wrong but the only phone I know of, that Moto offers with android, is the CLIQ. If this is correct, I'm tenting like a mofo.

If anybody has any validation on this please do post. Also if someone has any info on this phone so called the CRUSH. do the same.

I don't work there, so I know nothing for certain.

Going to take my phone in tomorrow or Thursday and talk to them about upcoming phones while they fix my current one.

Just to let you know that the LG UX840 for US Cellular is a smart phone and you would have to add the data package on it but it's $19.95 the $24.95 is for the Blackberry or HTC phones.

You may want to go with the motorola Crush then. You don't need the data package and it will be a touch and will have a slide out key board. It should be at us cellular by christmas but not really sure just call a local store every week to check if its in or they heard anything about it yet.
