Quick question for you, please:

I am ready to buy the new Samsung Eternity. I like all of the features that it has. However, I have read somewhere that if you wish to use one of your existing MP3 songs as a ringtone, the file has to be smaller than 300 kb's.

Has anybody heard or read something similar or if this is true?

If it is, then it's a deal breaker. I can't possibly understand why a mfg. would want to place a file size limitation on MP3 files that you would want to use as your ringtone.

Thanks,

Carlos

It is true. It has nothing to do with Samsung. This limit applies to most/all AT&T phones of all brands. I don't have experience with other carriers but it's probably similar for them as well. The reason is simple. Money. They want to sell you ringtones and features (like GPS Navigation) for money and can't do that if you can easily do it by yourself.

yes you can make your own mp3 ringtones..they must be under 300k and no longer than
about 25 seconds.
It's very easy to do....it only takes a few seconds.

Get the free audio editor...http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/masters.html

it's free and easy to use.
They will sound GREAT.....mp3's sound great too on the phone.
I can highly recommend you get the Eternity.
