i like all these phone's form factors.
i love the glyde's form factor the best, but is there still problems with the screen now?
the voyager has the biggest qwerty of them all, and a powerhouse in everything it does.
the env2 has the smallest form factor, and i have this right now. my env2 just broke yesterday... :(
the outer screen broke, and the inner keyboard doesn't work on various keys.

my mom wants the chocolate 3, but i don't want it. but she did suggest that she would trade me her Dare if i got it.
(only thing is, i like some physical means of texting...)

Well out of those 3 I would definatly go for the Voyager. Your Mom might be on to something. The Chocolate 3 is a great phone but if you are going to use all the features such as mobile tv etc than the voyager is the way to go.

As a Verizon employee and tech, i would recommend the Voyager. its a good solid phone and gives you all the features you would need. Stay away from the Samsung Glyde, the touch screen is horrible. we get almost every single one we sell back. Not to mention they are pulling those off the shelf soon due to the issues we are having with them. The EnV2 is a good phone but there are some issues with that too. We have a lot of phones come back with the keypad not working on the front of the phone. If i were you i would look into the Voyager or maybe even the Dare. The dare is a great phone but if you want a physical keypad then i would stick to the Voyager.

alright, so the glyde is axed . i played with it, and didn't like it.

the env2 and voyager are the two phones i'm looking at.

i don't use the internet, nor do i use the mobile tv, or even email.
i rarely listen to music on my phone, but i use its speakers to play it, so no worries on a 3.5 mm jack, especially since i have a ipod touch, classic, and nano

even if you arn't going to use most of the features that the voyager has to offer, its still a higher quality phone. The enV2 is a nice phone but it does have some problems. Ive recieved more enV2's back then voyagers and the voyager has been out 2 times as long. Overall i think you would be happier with the voyager. dont forget you have 30 days to exchange if you deside to change your mind. There is a 20 dollar upgrade fee though. That will jump to a 35.00 restocking fee on the 16th of Nov.

what happens on the 16th of November? and i'm going to try and see about possibly trying to persuade my mother to get me a htc touch pro, since it comes out in stores on my birthday. ^^ lol
but i'm not sure if i'd like windows mobile.

i'm kind of regretting liking the voyager, not fast enough for me.

i didnt like the glydes features but it didnt have problems. as for the env2 my mom took back 3 of them so it must not be that great.
i hoped i helped.
good luck.

I have to confess that I am not used to posting in a forum. I have blogged before, but this is different and am not sure why, after editing a comment that my daughter wrote when she got access to my computer, this "Reply to Thread" window showed up. I had written something about the enV2 and the Voyager and ended up here. Anyhoo....I am sure I will figure this out at some point. :)

only thing is, i have never had any problems with the env2.
with the voyager, i'm worried the touch screen will be terrible. i have an ipod touch, and i really don't want any other touch screen. haha

What phone comes out on November 16? I have heard so many different things. The Samsung Saga is on the Verizon wireless website today. I thought of ordering that, but I am very torn between that, the Storm and the new HTC. I can't wait for the Omnia to be released because I have the 6800 right now and am supposed to select a different phone and send it back. I do not want to be stuck with that monster. By the way, if you are having problems with your Voyager (I tried to edit my post about the Voyager...my daughter loves hers and wrote that when I stepped away from the computer)...you can call Verizon and let them know and ask them if they will extend your 30 day guarantee so you can get the phone you are waiting for. Thing is, make sure you actually have the rep read you back exactly what she/he wrote in your notes. Usually, talking to a female rep will get you further. Also, ask them to follow up with an e-mail or a text message so that you have proof. Otherwise, when you call back, they may have inaccurate information on your account and they will give you a hard time. Make sure you get the rep's name and write it down, take notes on the call and date it. I have been dealing with phone problems since June. I have had them send me the wrong phones, tell me some of the smartphones do things they do not do and have received a bunch of phones with, what they tell me is software problems, but they do little to assist me. When I go into a retail location, they generally refuse to do what the customer service rep has made the notes about. You have to be on them all of the time...The squeeky wheel gets the oil. Never in my life have I had issues with cell phones like I am having currently. The Voyagers (both the original one and the new Titanium one) that my daughters have do shut themselves off...then again so do the many smartphones that Verizon has sent me. They freeze up, have to be reset, refuse to charge (they don't recognize the charger...another "software issue"). I actually had a near emergency and was unable to use my phone (a pink Blackberry Curve) until after I performed a soft reset on it. My daughters were locked inside of a department store in a large mall...they are old enough to be alone in a store, however they were to meet me in the mall and not in the department store. I got locked out of the store and they went out into the dark parking garage while I was unable to communicate with them. Thankfully, a store employee took them back in the store. They thought they were at the right exit and I would be right there with the car. It took about 15 minutes to find the exit they were at. My phone didn't work when I really needed it. I have told this to Verizon, but they are much more concerned with the fact that they have had to replace so many handsets. Every one has been defective. I did have the env2 before upgrading to a smartphone and, aside from one that wouldn't charge, it worked well all of the time. There is an issue with the soft touch paint scratching off and the silver paint...the metal looking part also is an issue according to some techs I have talked to. Well, sorry for the long story, but if you are not satisfied with your device and they have one coming out that you feel is better for your needs, you should start to make your calls to customer service and tech now. Good luck.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean that I had the Voyager, merely stating that I might regret choosing that phone. I'm still looking at the Voyager and enV2, since their only $20 apart right now.
I think I'll try the voyager first, and if in 30 days I don't like the phone, I'll just grab another enV2, which worked perfectly for me since March.

If you try the Voyager and change your mind within the 30 days, be sure you are happy with the next phone you pick. Whether it is the envy2 or some other phone. After you change once, they don't like to let you change again. I am having a lot of issues because I had actual problems with devices and, when I returned them and had tech at the store look at them and swap them out, they put that I was unhappy with the phone's features or some other thing that made it look like I was turning in the phone for no good reason. Now, I have to spend hours at a time trying to get to someone at customer service that will listen to me about swapping the phone that isn't working and, in fact, shocked my 12 year old daughter. She is afraid to pick the thing up and hand it to me if it rings since then. I have several other phones on my family plan and have had to swap out the Blitz because the screen went blank. I made sure the tech put what was really going on with the phone in the system when I exchanged that phone.

I understand that they wouldn't want someone just trying out phones and returning all of them, but I have had so many "software" issues...at least that is what I am told that the issues are. I am at the point that I just want a smartphone that works, but don't know which one to choose with all of the new ones coming out. I love the Storm's looks, but not sure if I want an all touch screen phone. I also like the Saga because I loved my friend's Blackjack and I know it is similar....well, actually similar to the Epix, which I think is pretty similar to the Blackjack. I just wish it was in a color other than the blah blue.

Point is, read about the phones. Check out reviews on all of the review sites. Consumer Reports has lots of reviews, but you have to pay for a subscription and this site is great. The touchscreen on the Voyager isn't bad. My youngest daughter had the Venus and the Glyde and those touchscreens weren't as good as on the Voyager, in my opinion.

How old was your env2 before it broke? I am just curious because of all of the handsets that I have had to replace. Seems none of them will last longer than a few weeks for me and I am very careful with my phones...keep them in a case, haven't dropped them or exposed them to any kind of moisture damage (I don't even take them in the bathroom when I shower for fear of water damage from the humidity).

well i think i'm going to do that. try out the voyager in the store, if the touch screen is good enough, i'm going to use it. if in the 30 days i have it, and its no good, i'll just go back to having my trusty env2.

and i've had the black env2 since the day it came out. i've never had problems with it whatsoever, but the screen broke. and since the voyager is only $20 more, i think i might go with that.

i really want to see the htc touch pro. the keyboard looks amazing, i just hope the menus work correctly... :)

i upgraded to the voyager a year ago, I was also terrirfied of the touchscreen. not so much the fact that i wouldn't like it, but the fact that i thought i would break it. I loved that phone, and didn't want to upgrade, but someone in my family needed to use my phone, and i was going to take the new one. i decided to go with the lg versa. i was thinking of the dare, my brother has it, and it was named the best phone by consumer reports magazine. everyone i know loooooves the dare, but i too wanted a tactile keyboard. the versa is the best of both worlds. more menu options and programs than the voyager (except mobile tv) and has the removable keyboard, which can be replaced if you were to ever lose it. (i never take mine off though.) i loved the voyager, but the versa is slowly trumping my opinion. either are great though.

I have (well had) a samsung glyde, since they first came out. I had my first one since october or november and it worked fine in the store and for a while after that, but about a month or so after it starting acting all funny and wouldn't select where i touched. I later figured out from a friend that it needed to be calibrated, but that older software version didn't have that option on there, so i took it and and they updated the software on the old phone, but it still didn't do any good, so then i took it to another store where they replaced it for free (under warranty still I guess..) and it worked phenomenally after that.
I haven't had problemss with it until a few days ago when it stopped charging, so the tech at the VW store said it had" water damage", but I don't know where it could've been water damaged from in the past two days, soo it's all frustrating and a mystery to me.
