Hi. Thanks for help in advance. Here is my issue. I had a chocolate with 2 year contract, its up 11/8 and I get $100 off new phone + $50 if I order that phone online. My chocolate died, beyond repair in August. I have activated one of my sons krzr k1m's until then. We had two old krzr's, a red and black, the red won't accept my blue tooth and the keys are cracked and they break my nails when I text (lol), the black one (the one I have activated) will not charge a battery and the camera won't work.. so I charge the batteries in the red one, and then switch them out... neither battery lasts very long, and they are new. Its INSANE!!

I want an iphone, but won't be getting one for several reasons, one being that at&t forces you to have a data plan, and thats bullsh*t. I get my upgrade stuff 11/8 and currently there is ONE phone at verizon that has touchscreen and wi-fi, the vx6800.. and based on many reviews plus its thickness and qwerty, its not the phone for me. Verizon discontinued the Samsung i760, which was the phone I decided I could live with.

My question is... what do I do? Wait and deal with my phone insanity until Verizon releases a decent wi-fi phone... or switch to some other carrier, and if so, who and for what phone? I hear good things about Samsung Omnia (SCH-i910) and HTC Touch Pro but don't know much about them..

I need a smartphone with:

WI-FI
Virtual Keyboard
Camera Flash
Lots of RAM
Ability to customize, add apps & such (hackable)
Business Applications, Word, Calculators, etc.
Bluetooth, Mp3, GPS, etc.. things most Smartphones have
NO flip, glide, or blackberry stuff

Can you recommend an up and coming Verizon phone that I can wait for? timeframe? or is there a phone elsewhere that fits this?

THANK YOU!

If you want a phone now find a used i760, it has wifi and office on it. Plus it comes with a regular and extended battery.

I, too, would go for the i760. I returned my i760 about 3 weeks ago when it wasn't working quite right. Since the i760 Samsung is unavailable, the Verizon store gave me a brand new vx6800 as a replacement but didn't tell me that would extend my contract and lose my NFW that I was up for. I would not have mind if I decided to keep the vx 6800, afterall, both have the same features. However, after having the vx6800 and using it for the past 2 weeks, I decided I wanted the i760 back. The speakerphone volume was terrible. I could not hear anyone in my car on the speakerphone. Since it is illegal to hold a handset in Calif, I was unable to use the speakerphone part of the phone like I was able to with the i760. In addition, I was having trouble upgrading the software on the vx6800 to 6.1. Even the tech guys at HTC were unable to help with the upgrade and Verizon does not upgrade PDAs at the stores. Also, the battery life was terrible. Note that a flashing green light comes on at all times when the phone is on even when you put it on the sleep mode. Maybe that is why the battery life is so short. I never had a problem with the battery life on the Samsung. Verizon did locate a replacement i760 for me and it looks brand new when it came in the mail recently. I am happy as a clam I got my i760 back!
