Just purchased the gray steel unlocked version of this E71 from Best Buy a few days ago. I am SO IMPRESSED with the performance of this phone so far! It was expensive ($500 w/ tax), but I got tired of waiting for the Blackberry Bold and now I am skeptical if the Bold will even work right on AT&T's 3G network. After hearing the Bold would sell for $300+ with a 2yr contract, I decided the $500 wasn't that bad if you plan to keep it for more than a year (which I do). This phone is well constructed of quality materials and its made in Finland, not China! Way to go Nokia! You guys are my heros for not building this in China like everything else.

The Symbian OS is different from Windows or BB OS but it is very fast and does not suffer from the slowing and/or freezing that many Windows based phones seem plagued with. The Internet on WiFi is lightning fast and the battery life is crazy long!

I love my Windows based Treo, but this Nokia beats the pants off anything I've ever used or played around with on any network. My call quality is clear and loud and the phone has excellent reception. I can actually hear on speaker phone and the party on the other end can hear me great also. The true test will be in the next two weeks as I travel to other 3G markets and see if there is any difference using it out in the countryside with weak signals or in heavy metropolitan usage.

AT&T missed the boat on not bringing this phone on board into their stable. Check this unlocked phone out if you are looking for a great GSM 3G smartphone and are tired of cheap crap that freezes up or doesn't work in all markets or conditions. It will work on any GSM network since it's unlocked and it is loaded with tons of cool features. You won't be disappointed.

Hey "guest" :) Let us know if you get charged heavily by AT&T for roaming charges... I'm also interested in picking up an unlocked e71.

$500 is a bit much for me, but I do see you can get it for around $358:
Unlocked Nokia e71 (gray) $358 (http://www.gosale.com/4948756/nokia-e71-unlocked-with-32-mp)
Be sure to comment on the roaming issue...
