Log onto your account on the sprint.com website. There will be a picture of your phone and a link called "Phone Details." Click this link and then click "Software Download." If you are running XP you are in luck. Select Windows XP and then choose to download "Sprint PCS Connection Manager for Phone as Modem/USB Cables." This will install an application that will allow you to use your phone as a modem, and comes with the driver you are looking for. I can't figure out how to manage your contacts although the useless sales guy at Sprint indicated that you could do this over your PC.

Just to the right of the "Back" button is a Speaker Symbol. Press that after the person has picked up.

P.S. Check out the manual page 14... look at item 19, which leads you to page 17.

Not looking to use it with a Bell site, just trying to get it to talk with my PC. Samsung says it is with the provider, Bell says it is a manufactures issue and around we go!!! Looking at other sites this has become a major issue out there with this phone! Anyone able to crack the code as of yet!!!!!!

PS: Sprint is not going to help a Bell Phone user so that will not work unless someone gives me their account #.

Finally I found it!!! Despite my service provider telling me that I can not use this USB feature and Samsung advising that it was my service provider’s responsibility to provide this driver, perseverance shows that drivers can be quickly down loaded from http://www.samsungtelecom.com/drivers/driver.asp?model=sph-i500.zip

Thanks for all your help!!

I got this phone back in December. I was waiting for a bluetooth phone with an mp3 player. I got the Motorola h700 and it works great except for one thing. Since it is a bluetooth phone with voice activation and dialing I figured I would get a belt pouch for the phone. I got a body glove pouch and discovered the following: The phone is set for keyguard on flip closed. To deactivate you depress the volume and camera buttons on the outside of the phone. You can accomplish this simple feat by pushing the phone into the body glove pouch. You then walk around taking pictures of the inside of the pouch. Incidentally you cannot access the phone via the bluetooth headset while the phone is in camera mode, unless you are answering a call. To make a call you have to extract the phone and cancel camera mode.

Otherwise this is a really good phone. Sprint should create a setting that only disables keyguard when you OPEN the phone!

I wanted to buy this phone. I did my research if this bluetooth and pc sync feature is crippled like verizon phones. After speaking to Sprint customer service on phone and with sales people at various sprint stores it appears that you can not upload music or picture from your PC using bluetooth or data cables. I looked at the A920 users manual and it clearly says that in A920 the FTP bluetooth profile is disabled which means you can not transfer files to and from the PC using bluetooth. However, you will be able to sync your address book (MS Outlook) using bluetooth since the Push-something bluetooth profile is enabled.

Regarding the data cables, this is only used if you want to use this phone as a modem. It is not for the purpose of transfering files. I looked at a few softwares in the market which allow you to do this e.g., DataPilot. So far no one provides this feaure for the samsung A920 model.

Simple put the mp3 on the transflashcard, with the adapter your can put it in any SD card reader. All photo and video taken by the camera can be copyed onto the card by the phone internal menu. That quite easy and fast.

Hey guys. I'm trying to use my A920 as a data modem to allow my Clie UX50 to connect to the interent. When the UX50 connects to the A920, the phone tells me its being used as a data modem. A white screen appears with a timer, and about seven seconds into the connection I get an error: Error 67: Registration Failure. Your PCS Vision username and/or password may be incorrect" The screen then blinks a couple of times, a new screen appears breifly which looks to be transferring data, and then it goes back to the menu. Any help?

People, people, people...

Samsung provides no USB driver for the A920. The phone was designed with a T-Flash slot. This T-Flash slot is the vehicle for getting MP3 files to the phone from a PC or laptop. The cable provided is to be used in conjunction with Sprint's "Connection Manager" software so that the phone can be used as a modem. The cable may have other uses but you won't get anything out of Samsung. Samsung will continue to refer you to Sprint as long as you mention the word "modem". It's Sprint's network, not Samsung's.

Again...there are no USB drivers for this phone. Use the T-Flash card and an MMC reader.

BTW, I am a Level 2 tech support rep for Samsung Wireless in Plano, TX.

Don't assume Samsung will refer you to Sprint ... and that the data cable is designed for some sort of Sprint Software ???? There are other countries in the world other than the USA so why would they include a cable that was intended to use with a US service provider???

As far a the matter of connecting the phone to the PC. There is currently 2 available uses for the usb cable.

1 = Voyageur Software:
Voyager software will allow you to wirelessly enable your laptop using the USB cable. This application is free for Bell Mobility customers and can be downloaded from their web site:http://www.businessonthego1.com/english/software/Voyageur-Win32.exe
Voyageur is a free download for Bell Mobility users and will support the following handset devices.
 Samsung SPH-a740
 Samsung SPH-a860
 Samsung SPH-a920 – EV-DO (USB cable included)
Contact Bell for more information or go to the following web site:
http://www.businessonthego.com

Data to Go Kit:
This is used to access phone data such as the phone contact list. As per Bell, should you have any difficulties using the kit, Please call 1-877-DATA123.

For both of these items, there’s no direct support from Samsung.

Actually, it is quite easy to use custom files as long as you do this using the flash memory card, which actually holds more than your phone. The phone only has 24 mb of built in memory, while the flash card that comes with the phone holds 30 mb, and can easily be upgraded up to 512 mb. This way you can use MP3s from your computer as ring tones and pictures/video as screen savers, etc. In order to write to the flash card, however, you must purchase a USB card reader...make sure that the attachment can <b>both read</b> <i>and</i> <b>write TransFlash memory cards</b>. (They can be had for relatively cheap, even if you buy it directly from Samsung, which has the most expensive accessories by far, it is only $19.95)

Good luck!

I just got off the phone with Sprint tech support and I was told that the this phone model (A920) does not support bluetooth file transfer even though it is a bluetooth enabled phone. Also, the usb cable is only to use the phone as a modem. If you want to transfer files (mp3's and pics) you need to pull the transflash card and put it onto a card reader attached to your computer, transfer everything to the memory card and then put it back in your phone. Hope that helps..

After a few hours of bantering back and forth with Sprint they finally admitted "The usb cable is useless for transferring any data and can not be done". There are absolutely no drivers for this phone. Not only that my memory card even in the unlocked position continues to read "copyrighted disc" and they cant come up with an answer for that one either, therefore I couldnt transfer anything to it from my pc anyway lol. Essentially they indicated you are locked into using the sprint store for your d/l which are only good for 90 days anyway and in KOZ so that they cannot be transferred. Go figure. They further said they didnt know all this until after advertising and initally they "thought" the phone was to be capable of using the usb etc.........grrr ready to take it back and tell sprint where to put the rest of it. Particularly after son paying full price for the blasted thing as I wasnt renewing for another 2 years. I've been with sprint for over 7 and this is the last.

any luck with a920 drivers for bell? I'm trying to download mp3's to my phone from pc.

I have the a920 through Bell Canada and have spent the better part of the night and most of today looking for a way to connect my phone to my PC.

So far i have found some programs at http://www.businessonthego.ca
I have yet to try there "SnapSync" program bucus i think it only works with your contacts and not files, tho if you have a TransFlash card reader, all you have to do is go into your phone and create a music folder and then stick the card in your PC's card reader useing the adapter and just drag your MP3's into it and stick it back in your phone and your rocking:P

If anyone has a FREE progam for contact trancefer, I know a lot of people here would like to get there hands on it:S

I read alot about people trying to use the USB cable to Xfer contacts. STOP! It is a major pain and you are likely to get a limited return on your time. Just use the OBEX object push (Bluetooth VCard push). Go into outlook, select the contact and choose push - your phone will confirm and then voila!

If you don't have BT on the PC then you can get a USB BT adapter for something like $5 that works perfectly well (eBay).

The USB cable requires you to load drivers which Windows doesn't like and the Sprint download gives you no functionality beyond the phone being a modem. You can find programs to synch up with your phone but why? Use the BT technology, its easy - pretty reliable and quick.

FYI: here are a few lessons learned regarding BT on the 920. Visibility should be set to "Always" when you are sending contacts - otherwise the PC seems to lose its connection. Pay attention to Outlook, SP2 requires you to click OK when any external program tries to interact with it. On occassion I have had to disable BT and re-enable it to enable communication with my PC (sometimes it just won't connnet) but that may just be my PC.

My config: Windows XP SP2 with external generic BT adapter(eBay special from Korea). Also running Outlook 2003

I believe the only way to transfer media files is by writing to the MicroSD card. If you don't have a writer (my hp 7660 printer has one) and you don't have a PDA you can use as a writer then you will have to buy a writer.

You can download the XP Drivers from Sprint's site but I haven't seen anyone who has been able to write files through the cable. From what I read, the cable is just a modem cable - nothing more.

However, that being said, I love the fact that I can just write to the card. I'd take that over the USB cable any day - its just easier.

Remember, media files need to be stored in the media folder on the card (not music).

Ok, I am not sure why you can't write to the drive. Here is a few items to check:

Is the write protect switch set incorrectly? It is on the left side of the SD card adapter.

Does the file you are copying have any bizarre characters? a colon or a dash or something like that?

Stupid question but are you sure it has space?

Is there something wrong with the writer? Were you able to write to it with another driver or have you ever tried writing to a MicroSD card with this drive? Maybe the drive is too old?

Just a few thoughts. Let me know - I am curious.

FutureDial Suite is now compatable with the A920 using the Samsung data cable.

You can sync your Outlook contacts to the A920 phone book.

Ringtones have to be sent to the phone via the Internet using one of the free uploader tools. They CANNOT be transfered to the TransFlash card. I make my ringers into .qcp files as they are small and don't take up as much room. MP3 songs on the Transflash card CANNOT be set as ringers.

Pictures and music can be dropped onto the TransFlash card via a card reader. Music must be in the Media folder, pictures in the Picture folder.

okay...after reading all these posts on this thread and other places i found out how to use the usb cable to load files...(after many people saying its only for a modem and basucally useless for everything else)...JUST TO LET YOU KNOW I HAVENT TRIED IT YET AND I GOT IT OFF AN REVIEW...go to: Menu->Settings->Security (you might need your user lock number...if you dont know what it is try your last 4 digits of your phone number or call samsung)->Port Settings (0, hidden menu) and there you have it but you still need the software/driver...

hope this helps let me know if it works :)

just for the record, i was also unable to get the phone to actually hook up to my computer as a USB device... i don't need a modem; i have high speed... but the little adapter that you are SUPPOSED to use with a card reader is a godsend... too bad i didn't have an SD reader... i did, however, have a digital camera with USB hookup AND drivers AND it uses SD media (incidentally, this camera is a samsung as well)... i popped the little card into the big card and stuck that in the camera and wired it up to the computer and voila! i have the ability to put music and media on the phone and download any photos and video... all w/o actually buying a stupid card reader... once again, the big corporations have been foiled in their attempt to make me spent MORE money...

Any idea which options to change? It looks like SIC and DIAG are the only ones where the USB is not enabled.... changed them and I'll try.
It would be real nice to find out how to activate the "file manager" that Samsung puts in their phones.

Can somebody please tell me how to set the A920 so that when I receive a call, it is automatically transferred to my bluetooth after some time? Lol, I was told it's possible but I can't seem to find the freakin' settings to do it.

I don't mean to be rude but please people read through the entire thread before asking the same question that 50 others have. I'm no expert but I've been researching about the a920 for a few months now so I will give my opinion. First of all there isn't any way to transfer anything other than contacts with bluetooth. As far as I know there is no way to transfer anything over the USB cable (unless there's third party software out there which seems to be nonexistant for the a920 right now). The USB cable is used strictly for connecting a computer to the internet. Secondly if you want to put music on your phone strictly for listening you need to use the transflash(microSD) card and a card reader. You put the transflash card in the SD card adapter and put it in the reader. You copy the mp3 files into the MEDIA folder on the card. If this isn't there then make it by right clicking and going to new>folder or format the card in media player on your phone under options. The songs should show up in the media player application on the phone after you reinsert the card. As far as I know you can't use these MP3s as ringtones. What you can do to get around this if you have web service with sprint is go to a site like www.Rumkin.com/tools/sprint . Here you can upload small files (I think a little under 1MB) to the rumkin server. If your files are larger you can either re-encode them (not in this walkthrough) or cut them with audio software (also not in this walkthrough).

Oh yea and you can also upload games and applications you find on the internet in the form of .jar files through rumkin.com but make sure that they aren't coppyrighted and scan for viruses.

I just got the a920 earlier this week and while I'm quite pleased with the form factor, the build quality, and the features, I'm wondering if I might have made a better choice going with the Razr V3c? I understand that most of the file transfer issues are simply dealt with by using a memory card reader, but I'm wondering if those longtime owners can comment whether the crippled features are worth living with?

I just got a Samsung sphA920 phone, and it's awesome. I have the song thing down pretty good, with the memory card and stuff. But there's one thing i can't get. I can't get it to sync up with my laptop to transfer my address book and ringtones. I already tried pclink on samsungs site, but that doesnt work. I also tried bitpim, and i think my phone's the only one not on their list. I consider myself a pretty tech-savvy person but alas, is there no hope for us samsung owners? what i really want is to get my own ringtones on my phone without going on my providers (bell-aliant) web service and downloading one for $5 a pop. To clear things up again, pclink sucks balls, bitpim doesnt work, i want a ringtone, someone help.

I also own a Samsung A920. Everytime someone leaves me a voice message the envelope icon pops up with a little red image that looks like an old school roll of film attached to it. I looked the image up in the manual and it says it is a voice message attached to an image. My question is how do I get to the image? I listened to all of the prompts after the voice message and there is no option to view an image. This happens after different people call me and I know everyone is not sending me an image. Anyone have any insight?

If you want the sync, you can do a PC->Phone sync via bluetooth as described earlier in this thread. BitPim does not support the A920, and won't until one of the developers gets their hands on one. There is no way to do a mass Phone->PC backup, only one at a time.

If you want ringtones, and already have them, use http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/

i know how to do it but i forgot exactly how. i mean you can still use it with the 1x network as a modem the evdo net can only be accessed if you know your phones lock code, maybe msl which is like pulling teeth to get from sprint, you have to ask for it or know what they are giving you when they give it to you the first time. i used to work for sprint as a level 1 tech, but if you can find someone who knows there IS a way to access the evdo net without paying for the evdo service. i actually really do know how but if i posted it. i would just be slowing my speed down, you do have to consider that sprint network is on a first come first serve basis and the less people one their network the faster net speeds you will get

Assuming you have some form of Bluetooth already set up on your Computer and you have connected it with your phone....proceed (if needed) to import your address book from wherever you keep it into whichever version of MS Outlook you have on your computer. If you already have everything you want to put on your phone already in your Outlook address book, goody for you. I used Outlook Express successfully.
Once you've done that, open the address folder in Outlook , select "all", right click on top of any of your highlighted addresses and select "action" and hit "send to bluetooth" and select your phone on the list...then check your patiently waiting phone and hit o.k. to the prompt to accept the contact....it will chug them all in. Voila, your done.
You could do this one by one if you really want, but why bother?
The phone only accepts phone numbers and the default email address...nothing else. You want more, throw the phone away and get a Treo.
I dispise the phone companies for locking out so many features and making such a neccessary and simple task such as address book syncing into such an ordeal. Their thinking is incredibly short sighted. The phone manufacturers create such wonderful toy's and the phone companies tie it up in knots to squeeze a few more dollars out of us. These are the same guy's who used to sell snake oil years ago...except we are not all ignorant rubes living in seclusion...the internet is a powerful tool, they just don't seem to realize that most people see right through their marketing-for-morons approach to business. Hopefully they go bankrupt and sent to jail for such shady practices. Anyone can make lots of money if you don't care.

I will be getting this phone tomorrow. Any suggestions on which Bluetooth headset is good? I hear to stick with Motorola, but figured I might get other oppinions. I really want a headset that will allow me to use Voice recognition for calling. I drive around allot for work and it will be nice to not have to pick up my phone.

Here are a few models I have been looking at:

Actually tethering with the 920 is simple... at least for us sprint users :) All you have to do is setup a dialup connection on your pc no username no pass and dial the number #777 including the #. Phone will logon and bam your surfing the net no extra plan no 40$ a month data plan etc. Been using this for years :) Using it now as a matter of fact... any mod on this site can see my ip address and trace it back as sprint ip ;) Also i made one other post here about this issue if it happens to be disabled on your phone on how to fix the issue... use the search button if this seems to be disabled on your phone. Or email and i'll reply when i can... admin@3ginferno.com

Also anyone trying this on bluetooth it's just as simple! I'm using a bluetooth dongle right now purchased off the net for 6 bucks and my phone is across the room on the charger lol... when you setup your connection for bluetooth remember to use no user/pass and #777 as the number.

To ha about using evdo on your phone while using it as a modem... The settings for this are located in a hidden menu... not sure if this will work not having paid for powervision but here's the way to change the setting. Hit menu then click settings click display then hit zero (hidden menu) it'll say "field serv" with a lock. Enter 040793 and go to hdr/1x selection and change it to evdo only. Your phone will now function only in evdo mode. To change it back go through the same process then change the setting to hybrid mode.

Disclaimer: Anytime you change any settings on your phone you stand a chance of bricking it. This is a chance YOU take by listening to me ;) With that said everything I post ANYWHERE on the web will only be things i have done unless otherwise stated :) Questions? Email me admin@3ginferno.com I'll reply when i can... or just visit my site... if you dont know what my site is i'm not gonna tell you :P

in few words i want to know if you have any problems with your a920 in camera mode[/QUOTE]

There is a delay in the capturing of the picture to the post-processing of it due, I think, to the size of the image and the speed (slowness) of the phone's processor. If you hold the phone still for a moment longer, the picture will come out beautifully. The instant the image "freezes" you think it has been captured but it hasn't, yet. Hope this helps!

I have been going insane since January 2006, trying to find out why I have not been able to conect my 920 throught the cable. I have found how to transfer vids, pics and music to and from my trans flash card and have upgraded to a 1 gig card to meet all my music needs.
Being a wedding disc Jockey the built in mp3 player has come in handy for client meetings. But not being able to sync up my contacts and date book on the phone with my pc or laptop is a big pain.
Samsung in the middle east has a software program avaliable for free download for the sph a920. But this software only works with phones sold there.
Bell Mobillity which is my cell phone provider has purposefully turned off or locked out these direct to phone from pc features.
Simply MA Bell wants to force you to use their pay services only, such as mp3 and ring tone downloading only from their site.
Dont you love the way these big companies lie to us the consumer.
From the borad room to the club my ass!
By the way samsung stated that it is the providers doing that these functions are lock out.

I did this all without even using the included usb cable.

My iPaq Pocket PC can surf on highspeed using the bluetooth connection to my Samsung A920. Yay!!! Now when i leave my wi-fi enabled house, i don't have to look for hotspots around town to get my pocket pc on the internet. I can just surf using the EV-DO network using the #777 dialup networking connection on my pocket pc. Damn this rocks!

I followed Hammer's advice from this October 2006 posting. I wasn't able to get past the fieldsrv code to further tweak my phone yet though. Maybe i'll google for the service manual on this phone. But, i was able to get into the "Display" hidden menu and change the data line to use bluetooth instead of the cable. Now i can surf the net using windows mobile ppc anywhere for no extra charge. Maybe i can use Skype.com or Vonage to make long distance calls from my ppc too, possibilities are endless.

I even downloaded a bunch of new movies and changed the extension from *.3gp to *.3g2 and transfered the movies from my ppc to my 1GB transflash memory card in my phone. Put them in the card where the rest of my pics were and voila, i can watch movies on my cell phone and it looks good and sounds great. The movies are around 50MB each.

My only issue is trying to get all those compatible java games/apps I have into the Downloads section of the phone. I can try to download them from a website. But if i had access to get to the downloads folder of this phone, I'll be king. Anyone know the fieldsrv code please post it here.

This one says store in MEDIA file not MUSIC and i have seen this where it says to put in media not music in a few others... which one is it?? lol i have Sprint btw.

Amazon has a selection ranging from 4.99 through ...

Here is a good one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00064V6SK/sr=8-2/qid=1148335276/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-8374055-7918562?%5Fencoding=UTF8

Pretty much anything that will write to an SD Card will work.

Remember, media files need to be stored in the media folder on the card (not music).

Lordy, a person would think if you could afford this phone you would have the know how to use even the simplist of features. I've owned the A920, Sprint version back in March 06. Immediatly I purchased a 512meg transflash chip. The phone comes only with 32meg. Couple things to make it real easy. The phone plays mp3's. Not itunes, not wav's..midi's but who would want to use those. It plays movies, 3gp format. Now, the best way to do this an enjoy it is first install the chip in the phone and format it from the menu. It DOSE NOT support chips over 1gig so don't bother trying. Next take a picture and save it to the memmory chip, NOT in phone. Okay, now remove it and place into the adaptor and then into the cardreader on your pc. Open it and you will see several folders. They should be DCIM/100SSMED (photos) Music (this is where download tunes end up) filestore (ends up tracking play list) media (put mp3's here) You can make sub folders in the media folder for your tunes. Also put the 3gp movies here. Slyfox has a program to rip DVD's into 3gp movies that play on it (14 day free demo use). On average with a 512mb chip you can get 2 to 3 COMPLETE dvd movies ripped and fitted on that chip with each movie averaging 170-240 meg per @ 15fps in stereo. I would not play mp3's over 128kps, it dose not appear to take advantage of the extra quality and uses more space. If you want ringers, edit one of your songs in wav format, convert it to mp3. Keep it small and about 30 secs. Then go to 3gupload.com and you can upload it to your phone as a text message link for free and download it via the text message your phone gets. (of course you will pay cell wise for the text message and data dl). 3gupload also allows you to send pics and games if you have the files. Screen size of the A920 is 176x220 so keep that in mind when sizing your stuff. Have fun. Oh PS: when using the blue tooth for dialup networking with Sprint the lastest software patch causes the regular browser to lock out and the way to get it working is to go to security and reset to defaults. I went around and around with tech support for weeks trying to figure that one out. They are aware of the problem but no fix is in the works as of yet. Laters!

For all your 'expertise', you may want to look into a spell checker, though a spiel checker would help you too (Your spell checker doesn't help when you correctly spell the wrong word)

I got my 920 free from Sprint, so I'm not sure how I fit into your assumptions. What I (and I assume many others) would like from this phone - what I expect from any "MP3 player" - is the ability to connect it to my computer and transfer files without going through some web based service. Your solution works, sure. But, the phone itself is an insult on this level.

To use this as an MP3 player, or even more incredulously, a video player, you'd need to haul a few DieHard batteries around with you. That leaves basic functionality.

It would be nice to transfer some MP3 clips to the phone to use as ringtones with the provided USB cable. It's inexcusable that this is not allowed. This phone is all sizzle and no steak. It is NOT an MP3 player - it's a device for Sprint to hang you by your ankles and shake some more money from you.

Just bought a Samsung 920 last week with Sprint service. I tested the sound quality while at the sprint store by calling customer service but after a couple days of using it, I'm not pleased with the sound quality from the earpiece. The clarity of the sound from the earpiece is terrible. I've had to ask the person on the other end to repeat what they said because it sounds muffled most of the time. I wonder if my phone is defective or is this the way they are built? Anyone else not happy with the sound quality.

I may end up returning the phone and ending my contract because of this. Are there any Sprint phones with better sound quality?

I tested the sound quality while at the sprint store by calling customer service but after a couple days of using it, I'm not pleased with the sound quality from the earpiece. The clarity of the sound from the earpiece is terrible. I've had to ask the person on the other end to repeat what they said because it sounds muffled most of the time. I wonder if my phone is defective or is this the way they are built? Anyone else not happy with the sound quality.

I may end up returning the phone and ending my contract because of this. Are there any Sprint phones with better sound quality?

I am verry pleased with the sound quality of my phone both the supplied earpice and my sony ericson hbh-610 blue tooth headset, at times i think its even better over blue tooth, but as there is no free software to help with your callender and contacts as well as no way i can find to get any use from that USB or should i say POS cable, i'm stuck adding by hand and the card reader for mp3's

I've heard this for various models, so I guess it is no problem of your unit. This is a phone after all ;) Take pictures in bright light for better results

What it is, is that you have to wait like 15 seconds until it actually shows the preview of the pic you took to move for some reason it takes the cam awhile before it actually captures the photo....

I have this cell phone, works pretty good, for me the easiest way to load mp3 music files and video files is to load the from the computer to the transflash disk.. of course you will need a card reader on pc.

I purchased a 1gb transflash disk from ebay,
Downloaded AVS VIDEO CONVERTER to convert the avi or mpg movies to
the samsung video format which is 3gp. A full length 700MB movie goes down in file size to about 300MB so you can put in 3 full movies on a 1gb disk
and quite a few mp3 music files. All files need to be placed in Media folder
on disk in order to work correctly.

Total cost: A few bucks.
Card about $15 in ebay, AVS Video converter - Free Download
on "torrentportal.com"

Just some extra info for u guys that are trying to put music or videos for use on the phone.

any luck with a920 drivers for bell? I'm trying to download mp3's to my phone from pc.

Try www.businessonthego.ca . This is Ma Bell's business site. I found the driver for the A920, installed it, and it worked just like a modem. But before you do it, be sure to read the prices. This driver will also help you to transfer music/pics to your PC. If that doesn't work you can move or copy the pics your memory card then use the adapter youshould have recieved with the phone and plug in to your PC. That how I do it. I also put a 512mb card in the phone.

Good Luck!

This phone is stupid and a WASTE of my money. It cuts off at random for NO REASON. When a call is coming through and the phone is flippped opened the answer button doesn't work but if you press ignore it will send your call straight to voicemail. Now I have this Emergency Vart message and the phone won't cut off, won't charge, won't nothing. Every since Sprint hooked up with Nextel their service has went downhill.

Hey it appears that you can only use the data cable on your PC to use it as a modem, but if you have a PictBridge compliant Printer, you can plug it right up, select pics to Print up, and the like. It isn't totally useless...even though if u have a bluetooth printer, that makes the cable useless, LOL.

Don't assume Samsung will refer you to Sprint ... and that the data cable is designed for some sort of Sprint Software ???? There are other countries in the world other than the USA so why would they include a cable that was intended to use with a US service provider???

I am from canada and I am having the exact same problem. I thought this phone would be great but so far it seems kind of useless. from what I see, you need to have the trans flash card and even when you do have it, you cannot use the mp3's as ringtones because it is disabled by the service provider(so they can make money from their music, ringtone store)
I still have no idea what it means to have the phone as a modem or whatever it says but ya this is all I know. so hopefully this helps.

Actually the USB cable with the SPH-A920 is not totally useless for data transfer (besides as a modem). It can be used to back up all your contacts and also restore them if you lose them in your phone somehow. You can also restore them to another phone (in case you lose your first phone, or you want to give your contacts to someone else as well, like your spouse). It watches out for duplicate contacts as well.

Choose the "contacts copier" at:

http://www.samsung.com/download/Model_Select.aspx?type=Mobile%20Phone&typecode=18&subtype=Mobile%20Phone&subtypecode=1805&model=SPH-A920&fileType=SW

My provider is Bell Mobility in Canada, but this should work for Sprint in the US too.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any way to download/upload other files (photos, mp3, etc.) without using the memory card.

Too bad , it's a great phone otherwise. Have had mine about 3 years now.

Cheers!
