I'm not sure if this happens with other people's phones. But If I call some one, most of the time the phone goes black(or stand by mode) as soon as the phone is dialing. I press every button and I can't get the screen to come back on. Also, if someone is calling in and I'm on the phone....I can't see who is calling to switch over.

I called verizon- she told me to click the volume buttons on the side of the phone to get it out of stand by, yes, that works when I am not on the phone with someone, but not when I am speaking with someone.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!!

not sure if this is the case but the Dare has a sensor on the front so when the phone is placed up next to ur face during a call the screen goes black to prevent you from accidentally hitting the screen with ur face during a call. The sensors are the two little dots to the upper right of the Verizon Wireless symbol, make sure ur not blocking them while trying to get the screen back up

... hope that helps! lol

Not sure if this is old news to the original poster but there is a software update to the Dare that just came out. It's Verizon 05 now.

The phone as a sencor that locks the phone when your on a call so you dont hit anythign wail on the call. if you have it away from your face and its on just hit the unlock button on the side... But if its still black when you move it away from your face then you need to have a tech look at it... it should unlock as soon as you take it away from you face.

phone wont unlock when moved away from face with auto lock is set to on, then you have to hit the unlock button above the volume keys.

Sounds like you'd need to do a firmware update in-store

My LG Dare was stolen and my replacement phone did the same thing. I googled and found this information very helpful. I tried it with my own phone and it worked like a charm. I was dreading the thought of havcing to go into the Verizon store to get it fixed; now I don't have to go. :)

I’ve to say, it’s really a trouble for all LG Dare users, when i make a call, my LG dare’s screen goes black soon and i can’t get it to light up by press every button, the screen will not come on until call is ended.

Here is a good method to get the trouble away:

1. go to make a call type in ##program9700 and hit send
2. hit 000000 when it asks for the service code
3. go to field test
4. go all the way down to proximity call and just space your finger appx 2 cm away and hit yes and hold it till it says test success then your good to go

idk what your really talking about, but if it helps any there are three light sensors by the ear piece that makes your phones screen go off when your on the phone (when you put it to your ears) but if thats not your problem try unlocking it idk. hehe

sorry i hope you resolve your problem ( i have a dare and nothing bad has happened) so idk

WOW... been looking all over for this. Thank you for the tip, it worked great for me. I went to a Verizon store last night for the firmware upgrade... seemed like it helped a little but not to the point of normal operability. But thanks to the calibration, the phone works great now!

All

I just figured out another way to update an LG Dare VX9700 if you can't get the screen on.

Before you hit SEND when dialing *228 - tap the bottom right of the screen for options and you'll see a two second delay option. It adds a "P" to your called number.. Ad about 8 of them, then add a 1

So it looks like this *228PPPPPPPP1"

This gives it a 16 second pause and then dials 1 to program the phone!

Enjoy,
Randy from Boston

Hi -

I have a question regarding the fix - how do I enter ##program9700?

Any help is appreciated.

The person who posted the field test help was great! It works like a charm now! It was a replacement phone with the problem of the screen going black. Thanks again!
