I'm going to just start this post now in hopes that someone out there will know something before I do. I've noticed the FCC release on the production on the predecessor to the LG Dare.

But there's alot of questions about this thing... some quite intriguing. Like possibly a removable or detachable keyboard??? That concept astounds me to say the least and i'm wondering how they would even do so. Perhaps a new level of Bluetooth.

I did some work with Bluetooth at a previous job of mine and had no idea how powerful and what types of data could actually be sent with Bluetooth tech.

Per say... this is just a plea to have someone, anyone tell me something about this phone as soon as it is released, leaked... whatever, because there isn't even wind of this device @ Verizon yet.

I can only assume that phones that are being developed as we speak are going to start incorporating Flash since even the boudler supports it now. What I really hope is that they allow the user to actually manipulate it somehow. What I mean by that is something simular to T-Mobile's phones having Java and users being able to put on their own customized games. I hope that we users that know flash can maybe Jazz up our menus with custom themes or put on our own games. That would be very nice.

I figured since it's relevant to the topic, i'd add this in there for anyone who hasn't seen or heard anything about it yet...

it appears the device will have a:

3" 480x240 pixel TFT touchscreen
2.0 MP cam
3D graphic user interface
Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
MP3 player
and operates on CDMA/EVDO 800Mhz and 1900Mhz networks

Detachable keyboard?! God I LOVE technology

now don't quote me on that...

it is a little out there that any cellphone actually have a removable/detachable/even tethered keyboard whatever...

i'm just waiting to need to break out a Batman Utility belt just to have my cellphone accesories available

i guess its all just a race to see who can do things first anymore...
pattern is, if people haven't seen or owned it yet, they will buy it.

An LG rep came into my store today and told me a little but about that phone. From what he could tell me it was actually a step up from the dare. Its going to be more motion sensitive... meaning like the dare when you flip the phone sideways it will flip the pic exc... well this one you can shake it and it would react... didnt say exactly how but said they would have games with the phone to use the feture. so basiclly its kinda like a Wii but on the phone.

well the shaking could be used for alot more things then just mere games, i dont know how far u guys go with phones but that technology was already implemented in alot of Sony Ericsson phones, where as your playing your song via your phone and listening on bluetooth or wired and what u do is shake ur phone and it'l change tracks. Least thats what the Sony E. Phones due not sure if they'l put it into that one but it is cool u know u dont have to unlock screen and click the button just shake it and BOOM...so yeah lol my 2 cents.

Here's what I want the phone to not have that the Dare has, and replacement features if possible:

1. No 3.2 MP camera with advanced features, I want to see a replacement 2.0 MP camera like on the enV2 VX-9100.
2. No 4 Hours of talk time, replaced by an even better talk time.
3. No V Cast Video, replaced by V Cast Music only.
4. Handwriting Recognition, replaced by none.
5. No Micro SDHC, replaced by Micro SD only.
6. No 1,000 contacts, replaced by even more contacts.
7. The Dare currently has no WiFi, but I want it to.
8. The Dare has no PTT version, but I want it to.
9. The Dare is not a smartphone, but I want it to run either Google Android or Windows Mobile 6.

All the current Dare VX-9700 information was obtained from phonearena.com

oh for the shake feature, that may hint at it being the new lg kp500, a touchscreen phone that is suppposed to be affordable. but idk just my guess

The Keyboard is confirmed via FCC reports

May take a while to sift through but here is a ton of info on it

why would you want to get rid of 3.2MP, VCAST Video, Handwriting Recognition, or MicroSDHC?

Sounds like someone wants their cake and to eat it too. I can think of a few things that you are looking for:

1) A Rock
2) 2 Steel Cups on a String
3) An old-school 90's pda

You want internet connection but don't want to pay for it so that's why i'm guessing you want WiFi. You have Verizon which has the best coverage for data and voice but you don't want to make use of the service that they have to offer. If you notice, the best selling PDAs that are out on the market are Blackberrys for a reason: They are reliable! But again, since you don't want to pay for the service, you are going to sell yourself short and be miserable. PDAs are computers FIRST and phones SECOND. Computers use data and need them to work effectively. Take that away and you get crappy service. Just my 2 cents

Exactly what I was thinking. MicroSDHC means it supports up to 8GB (I think that's the current highest) MicroSD's.
Handwriting Recognition on the Dare is actually pretty accurate and really good since there's no physical buttons.
Replace a quality camera with a piece of rubbish? That doesn't even make sense.
VCast Video is an option, as is everything else in the phone, so either don't buy it or don't use it.

this phone is amazing. I recently was visited by the LG rep from corperate and got to use the phone hands on. The touch-flo interface is extremly responsive, removable keyboard high quality 3.2 mp camera. I could go on about this phone for a while and have a lot to type. This phone is scheduled for release sometime this year, when i dont know for sure. All I know is that being a Dare user i will upgrade to the 9600 as soon as the relase.

I also had the opportunity to play with this phone recently and I have to say I love it. As a user of the lg chocolate (the original I'm kicking it old school) I'm obviously looking to upgrade ASAP. This is the phone I'm going with. As far as I know it will be out March 1.
