I currently have a Motorola e815 from more than 3 years ago and love the reception, battery life, and everything on it. I could have upgraded long ago, but chose to stay with this phone. now the outside plastic is starting to crack by the antenna and it's finally time to suck it up and get a new phone. I looked at all the reviews on phonearena.com and am still a little confused.

Needs:
great reception (US only)
long battery life
speakerphone
camera (at least a basic one)
small enough to fit in pocket and not require a holster
quality construction

Wants:
at least a basic mp3 player
microSD slot

Don't need:
qwerty keypad (I don't text much so it's not necessary, but not a negative either as long as the phone is still relatively small)
PTT
any features that cost extra like navigator, tv, data plans, etc.

I already have a company-issued BlackBerry 8700 series that I can use for email, internet, and international calling, so I'm just looking for a top-quality phone to cover my personal use.

I'm most used to the flip-phone style, but I'm not opposed to change. Also, I don't mind paying extra for a phone that has extra bells and whistles (touchscreen, fm tuner, PDA-style OS, video player), but I won't pay a monthly subscription to use any extra features.

I am obviously eligible for the new every 2 discount, so price isn't all that important. I was looking at the Motorola W755, but it's fairly cheap and it looks like I can still get a better phone for free with the $100 NE2 discount. Also, the Samsung Gleam, Alias, Glyde, and u550 had some not-so-good reviews on phonearena.com so I keep second-guessing myself as to what would be best.

I was thinking maybe the Motorola RIZR Z6c or Z6TV, LG enV2, or maybe the BB Pearl even though I wouldn't use the internet or email. Any recommendations or ideas??

I was thinking about getting the W755 also but i have noticed people either love it or hate it so i am starting to think that is not the best choice. I have been looking at the Motorola RIZR Z6tv as well. It has great reviews and great ratings. I would go for it if you want.

LG Dare :). It is probably the best phone you can get from Verizon. The price is $250, which is relatively good. The specs are found on the main site, so i won't go through them. There is also a review.

I'd recommend the Dare if you're wanting bells and whistles

BUT if you like flip-phones, the chocolate 3 comes out on the 14th, the camera on it is 2.0 mp and the internal memory for music is 1 gig.

LG has one of the highest battery lifes I've seen on a phone and great reception as well.

Don't go with a Blackberry if you aren't going to use the data features.
All Blackberry phones(including through other carriers) are contracted to have a data plan, so you would HAVE to pay extra.

Keep in mind you have a 30 day return policy with any phone.

Hope that helps!

based on what's out now I'd say the W755 or wait for the new chocolate. Haven't heard many of our customers have any negative feedback on the W755. Based on your needs, there is NO reason to get a Dare. It's just too much phone for you. Why get it if you want just a basic camera, no nav, no qwerty and especially that you don't want to pay for V-Cast.
