View Full Version : Can I get a PTT phone without PTT service?

My contract's up and I'm looking to renew and get a new phone. I'm really liking the about-to-be-released Boulder but it looks like it's a PTT phone. Does anyone know if VZN will make me sign up for PTT service if I just want to use it as a regular cell phone? Thanks.

you sure can. When you get it just make sure the PTT feature isn't added.

Same post as before, just inform them you don't want the feature.

Before PTT was an actual price plan, now its a feature just like insurance, individual text packages and etc...

Well they said they want the Boulder because they like the look of it and yes, that phone happens to have the PTT capabilities.

How often do people buy phones with extra features they don't need?

ALL the time!
People get surprised when they find out their phones can record video and they ask if it costs extra.

Back to the original point, they like the look of the phone, duh.

I would imagine it would be because they like the look and possibly need something that is shock/water/dust resistant and it's the only phone that has those features. Since PTT is a feature for an account rather than its own priceplan we don't need to offer PTT devices AS WELL as NON-PTT devices

OP here...

I don't want a PTT phone, I just want the latest version of the G'Zone for its ruggedness and I really like the looks of it. It looks like they're discontinuing the Type-s version anyway. If I could get a non-PTT version, I would.

yep, Type-S is discontinued. Wouldn't matter anyway since the last version of the Type-S that was out was PTT

I just like the orange, its pretty cool!!! The material on the outside feels like it'll hold up!!!
