I have a wireless phone card for my laptop and I am using it in the same place but sometimes the internet speed is very slow. Any tips on what I can do to make it faster? Anybody know why sometimes it works well and sometimes it is slow? Thanks.

Several things can cause the issue you are having.

The first is the most common: National Access coverage being the only network available. This is the network that Verizon customers talk off of which is significantly slower than the Broadband Access network, which is called "EVDO." When in your VZAccess program and connected, check the bottom of the screen to see what Network you are on. National Access will go around IDSN speeds, which is around 110kbps tops.

The Second possible answer to this is if you are exceeding your data cap. This occurs when someone is on an older data plan which doesn’t charge the overage when the customer exceeds 5GB but instead will throttle their speeds down to half if not more. I recently saw this when a customer had a cap of 5GB but used 16GB midway into his cycle. The customer’s data speeds were actually cut in half to attempt to use less data till the end of his cycle.

Your most likely experiencing the first scenario so next time it slows down, check the bottom of the VZAccess screen to see what you are connected to. You'll always have the net as long as you have cell reception but the Broadband towers are not everywhere yet so you may lose speeds in some areas.
