The only difference from expectations is with the screen size which is listed at 6.21 inches instead of the 6.4 inches that the screen was supposed to measure...

Sony i1 Honami cameraphone prototype gets fan-rendered, its C6903 code passes certification

The Sony i1 Honami cameraphone rumors are in peak mode, as more and more speculated details trickle down through the corporate cracks. Besides top notch specs, the handset is interesting mainly with the Cybershot-quality camera in it, as it will be a direct take on the unwieldy Galaxy S4 Zoom, or the 41 MP PureView Nokia EOS, which will run Windows Phone...

Thanks to major discounting, Sony's market share now leads Apple's share in Japan

As recently as last month, Apple's market share surpassed Sony's slice of the Japanese smartphone market. But over the last 4 weeks, based on stats from BCN, there has been a major reversal; sales totals from 2000 retail stores in the country now show Sony's share of its hometown market has hit 36% while Apple's slice of the pie has dropped to 25%...

Sony Xperia Z arriving exclusively on T-Mobile the 'coming weeks', in black and purple

T-Mobile just announced that the Sony Xperia Z will be coming to its shores exclusively in the "coming weeks". Here's the full scoop on the latest specs speculation: a 6.44" Full HD Triluminous display, a 2.3 GHz quad-core MSM8974 Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2 GB RAM, IP58 certified, 8 MP camera and Android 4.2.2...

Sony's 6.5" Togari phablet to come as Xperia ZU, sport a 1080p Triluminous display

It turns out that the first big-screen phone from Sony might be named Xperia ZU (from Ultra/Ultimate?). Sony has a big announcement to make on June 25 and we think we know what it may be all about. What you see here is an invitation to a press event about to take place in Berlin, Germany. Obviously the timing of the rumor was off, but it looks like that rumor wasn't completely inaccurate, and is coming around in a surprising way. Google has already announced two Google Edition models of flagship devices, and rumor has it that Sony may be the next up to join the program. The phone itself is rumored to have a glass/metal fusion chassis with carbon fiber elements, yet feature normal 10mm thickness...

Sony C3 leaks out: could this be Sony's first MediaTek-based phone?

We’ve been hearing about big companies like Sony and HTC looking to make a dent in the huge Chinese market and now details about a device that might be the first step for Sony leaked out…

FCC receives visit from the Sony Xperia L

There is now a chance that the Sony Xperia L will be released in the United States after all, following a visit with the FCC which warmly greeted the device's arrival which included 3G HSPA connectivity that will work for AT&T, StraightTalk and T-Mobile; if it does come to the states, without LTE it won't have a chance of finding a spot with the major carriers...

Sony Honami cameraphone detailed further: glass/metal body, larger sensor than the Nokia N8

The Honami is expected to feature a 20 MP stacked Exmor RS sensor with 1/1.6" size, which still makes it huge for a smartphone, meaning it will be able to soak much more photons in, bringing in incredible low-light shots, perhaps akin to a Cyber-shot camera. Some of you noted in our previous post about the Honami that the rumor it will use Carl Zeiss lens is likely fake, since the company has Nokia signed up as exclusive, and it seems to ring true, as the Honami lens is said to be of the Cybershot G variety instead...

Sony to use Triluminous display tech in future Xperia phones, 'quantum dots' will be your bragging rights

Sony recently revealed its newest Triluminous display tech that uses quantum dots, or nanocrystals so small they have quantum properties, and are emitting light just at preset wavelengths.
